Taken from live stream. This was basically a survival test with Stingray to prepare for GGP4 with Stingray. Hoping Stingray gets buffs soon because its clearly the weakest machine in stacked lobbies and the overall worst machine on Mirror GPs.

    Using Stingray on Cracked Cup GPs is basically the the game to the hardest mode. I placed 10th overall even though I didn't really have many high placing races but had good survival except for the usual Stingray auto rank out course. Good experience though, if you accept that you don't have a chance at winning overall with Stingray you can still have your own accomplishments.

    I unlocked everything for all the ships except first place in Grand Prix, starting with golden Fox and ending with fire stingray. I went back to Golden fox this past weekend and I easily scored 7 🥇 wins. All I had previously was 4.

    Been watching your recent videos and I also picked this game up. I played a lot of Stingray as a kid so I decided to stick with the machine. You're really good!

    23:43 clean White Land 2! It's nice being able to do well on that track without having to sandbag. It worked out well because a few other players decided to stay behind to collect sparks, by then you were already far ahead. Honestly, sometimes when I race those tracks I would rather just lose than sandbag and collect sparks. But obviously skyway planning is essential to overall gameplay. Nice race!

    If they buff stingray, what would make it still resemble the current ray, just more balanced? If they gave it more HP or boosts in total, it would simply be better than the Goose with higher top speed and higher recovery. If they gave it a boost that used the same HP but lasted longer, it would basically be a falcon clone with higher top speed and lower recovery, not much difference. If they made it less susceptible to being bumped around, like a goose, it would just be a better Goose with slightly different numbers of boosts per lap / overall race. if they made it recover faster, I'd reckon the Falcon would always strictly be the inferior machine, if slightly easier to handle on turns for beginners. The problem with the stingray is almost every track favors the higher recovery vehicles, because of the amount of free boosts they get. The tracks are the issue, not the vehicle. It's like with the ??? courses which have a bunch of mute city clones or loads of boosts in white wind, and then mirror cup with the addition of loads of boosters and such. If the game added a bunch of longer tracks with fewer boosts and short recovery pits, the meta would be stingrays are good. The machine is great if the track has no zippers and a short recovery area, but which tracks have that? Not many. I think the stingray was competitive before mirror tracks and ??? tracks, if outclassed by fox most of the time. But it was a decent racing vehicle. Now it's just clear last place or tied with goose at best. I don't know how to fix it. Increase its top cruising speed? Increase its speed on the zippers to 999? Both?

    I thought it was all just me. These mirror courses have so much more jump pads, dash plates and spark collectors that render stingray's top speed invalid. Combine that with how punishing it is to try to get back up to speed and you're left with a machine with few actual strengths.

    Yep, Stingray fell behind in version 1.3 and stacked lobbies in general, buffs are really needed.

    55:00 I'm now very patient with activating the skyway at this part... it keeps doing this pick-up thing that costs a lot of time (and honestly almost cost you the race...) Even if you activate the skyway after fully completing the jump, if you do it too soon it'll pick you up this same way. So annoying lol

    I havent had a chance to perfect that mid-air sky, usually I land first, but I want to be able to perform it fast as possible.

    Yeah I hope they have another patch or 2 in the quiver for FZ99. Stingray needs a little nudge. It has a few tracks where it still has a fair chance to win, but on so many, you don’t even have a look. Dunno if giving it more energy from sparks is the way to go, maybe make it a bit sturdier in the pack, losing less energy than Fox and Falcon and being able to win bump fights with those 2 at least. That way, you would at least be able to not constantly get knocked off zippers and fight for your bare existence… My gosh rank outs on mDW1 are so annoying on Stingray!

    Just a question about your races on Mirror RC2. Are you sure it’s the best idea to not do the small jump shortcut. Imho this is the best spot for a boost every lap even with Stingray because you can take the corner much faster. Unless of course you want to sandbag to get more sparks. But in my humble experience weaker lobbies, you can sandbag in other spots with less wallbangs and dangerous punts from the opponents.

    Which jump pad are you referring to, the magnets or the one at the end? The magnet jump ruined me because I got stuck in a bad bumper pattern, might be worth boosting there even with Stingray.

    @@MengskGX yeah i meant the one after 2 turns with the magnets and mines where you can boost, jump closely around the magnet on the left, tilt a bit left in the air and land into the zig zag with boost still on and aligned correctly at top speed. I see most streamers do it and i do manage it myself most of the time (after getting wrecked a ton trying it xd). But i didn’t see you try it once iirc. My question was if you think it’s not good doing it with Stingray and just boosting elsewhere, did you try to deliberately sandbag for sparks or did you just want to be safe and not die to a bad "Goose bump" 😉 Also: thx 4 the answer Mengsk! I truly appreciate it! Great stream, always love watching Stingray, it’s my favorite and the OG!

    i was rooting for you to stay alive in mdw1 but it looks like we both got punished for taking an early skyway which may have had less zippers than the optimal location. i have not worked out the math, but since ray gets max zipper speed of 8xx but has a slower deceleration than other machines, does it work out to be the same as the other machines? i wish speedlund were still around for mirrors-- they mightve cooked up a plan for the cracked cup good survivability overall. i think you know how to keep your cool

    I'm not entirely too sure how to best survive mDW1 with Stingray since you are limited to only a few boost so you really do have to get well timed skyways. Maybe Daizen has good example vid for it.

    Too many stage features that retain top speed. Stingray needs a buff if this is the new meta for stage design.
