F Your Opinion Podcast - Ep.3 JACKAMOE: BIRTH OF COMPTON PIRUS 1970's | @fyopod

"Birth of Compton PIRUS 1970's" This Sunday Sept. 17th, I sit down with Geoffrey Johnson aka Jackamoe @comptonjackamoe to discuss gang culture as an original PIRUS member from the 1970's as well as being present for the 1965 Watts Riots. We also discuss growing up around the black panther movement and what it was like watching his family burn up in a car accident when he was 14yrs old and how that tragic event led him to being an original member of one of the most deadliest LA gangs of our time.

I wonder what he did after 30 to support his family. That seems like a big question that was overlooked. The man obviously had to work somewhere to support his children. He never went back to jail which is outstanding, god sent that lady to his life. It changed everything. God bless his wife. I worked on a construction project off of green leaf right by Kelly Park, didn’t even realize I was in a Crip hood. Even crazier, that’s Eazy E’s hood. Does Joc still live in AZ?

No doubt. There is a big difference when we were growing up. And all respect. When I B used to visit Compton. I always tripped on how it looked. Like country farm land, horses, etc. That’s all I knew about it as a youngster. I heard of gangs out there and remember a few incidents with my friend who lived there. And then I grew up. And really started hanging with the Santana’s thru my people. It’s all love and respect. South central vet..

@veli2milly354 Sometimes people don't understand what gang culture means. Every major city had gangs at some point .. But the difference btwn having gangs and gang culture is.. when it's gang culture... the culture of the community is the gang. Meaning.. from grandmother to elementary school kids know the Rollin 60s are crips and the color is blue. In Philly.. We've always had gangs.. but not gang culture. We have Muslim culture. People who aren't even Muslim have the beard and most of us don't eat pork.. regardless of religion. But when XYZ gang got taken out by the law... something new appeared. A whole new gang. When black mafia went down.. JBM popped up. But it was different. Sticking with the 60s.. they've been the 60s for 50yrs almost.. the same thing. A culture of it. Grandma know because she came up in it too.
