Founded by Puerto Rico based African American producer and percussionist Otura Mun, ÌFÉ is a futuristic live electronic music project blending elements of Afro-Cuban folklore and Yoruban religious music with the bass driven sounds of modern day Jamaican Dancehall, Trap and Afro-Beat. The single most important electronic act in Afro-Caribbean music, ÌFÉ’s 2017 debut album “IIII+IIII” revolutionized the way electronic music was conceived and performed, seamlessly combining the intricacies of Afro-Caribbean percussion and song with the power of modern electronica played in real time, no DJ’s, no programming, totally freed from the grid. A groundbreaking reimagination of ancient diaspora music and movement, ÌFÉ’s music explores the higher frequencies while paying keen attention to the lower ones in a way that feels equal parts riot and ritual. Their highly anticipated sophomore album is slated for release in Fall of 2020.
Hailed as an R&B slow burner, "House of Love (Ogbe Yekun)," ÌFÉ's second single is a ghostly, beckoning musical offering. Recorded live using improvised electronic instruments, ÌFÉ mixes Cuban Rumba with the digital sounds of Jamaican Dancehall, creating a musical space and expression altogether its own. At times tender, at other moments seductive and flirtatious, the song is an invitation / an offering to those forces that walk among us and a reminder that life is nothing if not a constant act of giving to receive.

Who was the video editor who thought it was a good idea to not sync the clapping to the drumline of the music? I ask because one notices it within the first 30 seconds of the video and it throws off the synchronization hardcore (plus they continue that way through the whole vid)

Offhand the claps seems to correspond with a 3/2 rumba clave (a staple rhythm of Afro-Cuban/Caribbean percussion), with some embellishment thrown in. The beats aren't emphasized or necessarily performed in the song however they are ingrained both in the song's arrangement and its historical roots. So the unusual clap edits make perfect sense given the re-inventive nature of the song.

I am not a fan. I think that your presentation is disengenuous. I don't believe that the culture/religion is yours to commodify. Orisha praise songs are not yours to promote your career/ego. They are the legacy of Ifa and I am surprised that you would do this as a young babalawo...
