Absolutely beautiful. It might be simple writing for the cello but there is nothing simple about playing it. I grew up hearing Danny Boy from the cradle and this is one of the most beautiful renditions of this very famous tune. Ideally arranged for two cellos. How I would love if you made a CD with arrangements like Danny Boy. I enjoyed every second of the performances. Great playing. That is also a fantastic cello and when you play in thumb position it is crystal clear. Fabulous bass sound too.

Thanks for your kind comment Randy! I use a Rudolf Neudorfer but a different cello now. Meran plays a Dorfler, and the same cello. My bow is modern, and I’ve used it since 2003. Meran has had her bow and cello since she was a teen I think. I’m gonna post some interesting vids soon with different cellos and bows too!

@@rafaelhoekman4712 I find it fascinating how different bows make the same cello sound different. I am a cello teacher and professional cellist myself and a video on the subject would be very interesting to me. You both play so well and so well together. My compliments!!!

How wonderful to have a partner not just in marraige but as cellists as well! Your cello (Rafael) has such a beautiful and sonorous sound both at the bottom end and top of the range. What is it please?

Hi, it's funny you should ask. I just got a new one. See the Bach C major suite video on my channel if you want to hear it. The cello in this video is a French 19th century or Mircourt cello as its called. The label inside says Claude Saqcuin. 1850. I've played on it for the last 14 years or so. I do love the sound of this cello, but my new one has much more power and response and is much easier to play!

@@rafaelhoekman4712 Hello again and thank you for the info. I had a cello which I loved which I was told was a Matthias Neuner although it didn't have a label. I had to sell it when I gave up playing about 15 years ago - very sad and I miss it terribly. Having really enjoyed your concert here I wonder if you could include Handel Sonata for 2 Cellos Op 2 No 8 in your next concert please. Since I think you originally came up on my Facebook 'Cellists' group I wonder if you can tag me in your next Facebook post please? Thanks

Love the delicate fast high notes but the big booming long held notes come off unmusical, to me. You may like them!🎶🎵
