In this gripping scene, our F/A-18C Hornet takes off from the carrier deck as raindrops pound the ocean below and visibility is severely limited. The skilled pilot must demonstrate their expertise and nerve to safely get airborne and navigate the challenges of the turbulent weather.
But the task isn't over yet! After completing the mission successfully, the pilot returns to the aircraft carrier and faces the daunting challenge of landing safely in poor visibility and strong winds. Every maneuver must be executed with precision to place the aircraft securely on the narrow deck.

Every damn time I play DCS the ground crew on the super carrier just amazes me how far we have come in graphics and simulators.

Learning how to even take off in DCS is an admirable amount of dedication for a video game, but DAMNED if the views don't make it all completely worth it.

I am pleased to hear DCS isn't just like any "Arcade Game" easy to operate. It's good DCS makes players use some effort to enjoy...........a little bit like real aviating !!!!!

Admirable amount of dedication? It's not hard at all.
Amazing video. Just a tiny detail. When you takeoff from 3 or 4, you allways must to turn left, not right. Thats a simply rule to avoid air crashes after takeoff.
Airboss would like a word about that 1 Wire...

Looks great! How do you get it to constantly rain? On the heaviest rain settings it only gives me rain on and off. Did you experience this too?

Yes, I encountered this problem aswell in the past, but the timing just happened to work out for this video. But you can use the old weather model from DCS in order to get a solid and unbroken cloud layer and therefore constant rain.
With a 3080 are you having to use DLSS to be able to record and keep the frame rate?

Yes, I use the balanced preset. Otherwise, without DLSS the framerate drops massively when recording.
the only thing this game missing is. " random radio chatter between ATC and pilots:" .. that would make this game really realistic.

In general, I would love some more realistic ATC for airfield operations.

When I watch this video I tried to move my head to center the cockpit view during the landing approach, I guess I played too much DCS

Hey, I find the depth of field setting to add the most to my shots. I use the „Bokeh“ setting and it looks great! As for the views themselves, just experiment and find out what you like. You can experiment with the different cameras in the F1-10 keys (I might upload a list of those soon, but there are plenty online).

@@BingoFuel07 F14B can takeoff from carrier without afterburner. F14A needs the afterburner. And your Hornet depends of the weather and the configuration of the jet. Empty payloads and good weather and he can takeoff without afterburners.

That‘s the home fuel warning, it showed up, since I had to use fairly high throttle inputs right there.

Yes, there are many implementations of hand controllers/tracking software in VR. Please note although, that I do not play with VR, therefore no hand tracking required. I use TrackIR, which turns the camera according to my head movements.
Can you share your settings? I'm running a i9-14900k, 128ddr5 , 4070ti and my graphics don't look this nice...don't get me wrong, it looks great but are you using mods? or this is quality from post production? thx *edit: maybe mine doesn't look this nice because I'm playing on a 75inch 4k tv? Would it look better if I were playing on a monitor?

Graphics wise, I don't use any mods. You can find my settings (for free) on my patreon, I posted them there. I think your specs sound way more than sufficient for DCS but everyone has to find their own balance between graphics and performance. The TV shouldn't be a problem but you can try out your monitor too. Hit me up if it helped!

@@BingoFuel07 gotcha...yea my PC is beast...i tried to build my "forever" PC🤦🏽♂️ you know how that goes....I think it might be my tv...it's not OLED and about 3 years old...I play with all max settings at 4096x2160 and like I said it looks good but yours looks like a movie lol...thx for the reply
The Legacy Hornets are gone man. It's Rhinos (Super Hornets) and F35s now...

How do you start off on the supercarrier like that? And how do you get those camera views?

The supercarrier comes with deck personnel which you can interact with. Also, the detail that makes the camera angles so cool is the depth of field setting 😉.

For the procedure with the deck crew, I recommend you watch a tutorial, there are plenty of comprehensive videos out there. The depth of field just simulates the focus of the camera. You can find it in the system setting in the game.
