Another term would be "wow" and "flutter" which is caused by the mechanical sound transport speeding up and slowing down which shifts the pitch of the sound up and down. Oh, the good old days ...

@@spleensthecat8776 Not so, content providers have control over midrolls, they can opt out. I let opening and closing ads run, in support of CP's and no one lets midrolls run if they can catch them.
