@@giuseppecasa3574 its hard to compare, too many variables. Except in obvious generational differences between modern aircraft comparing one over the other is largely a pissing contest. You have to consider the role of the aircraft, the pilot skill level, and the design parameters. In most cases if you're asking what is better, you have to define, what is it better at doing? Are you trying to prove which is better at dogfighting, or other tasking? Both aircraft are multirole capable airframes, the F18 can carry a wide range of ordinance and is a high angle of attack, nose pointy aircraft, which is a capable dogfighter. I've seen video of the rafale comfortably dogfighting with the vaunted F22, the Eurofughter also. Again its splitting hairs stuff that I think only civilians really care about, pilots are mission and objective focused, and are well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of their aircraft, and others they may encounter in a hostile environment.

@@giuseppecasa3574 I don't think I'm qualified to answer that question. On paper the aircraft have similar characteristics, the f18 has more powerful engines but it weighs more...so we may have a close fight depending on the parameters each pilot would be hoping to operate within.

This was my favorite aircraft when I was a kid. A pilot at an air show at Barksdale picked me and showed me everything about it. I thought I was dreaming 😂 “If the F16 is like a Cadillac, the F18 is like a Corvette” he said.

I'm 43 and I absolutely know that I will never be a fighter pilot, that was my childhood dream. It hurts to figure that dream will never be fulfilled, but it's the reality. I love that shit so much ! Isn't it the coolest job on the planet?

For 15 years I had the fortune to work for the Boeing Company helping to build the awesome F18 Super Hornet. I am proud of the priceless opportunity to help build the weapons system cabling for 8 of those years. Is a plane that I hope will last for many years to come.

Pilots are dope, but the engineers who make these beautiful machines deserve most the credit.

Like anything else it becomes routine for The facilitzens of the inner X navy man myself and in the aviation world I know it's involved it is very intense but becomes a regular routine after a while I think where the real adrenaline comes from pilots is when it fully armed and they have to go fight air combat that to be the adrenaline rush for them

The pilots the engineers and also the technicians and the mechanics who keep the planes in the utmost condition

That is incredible, I give great respect to the pilots.

This is insane to touch down the aircraft on the moving ship in the waters. So awesome!!

How many miles are you running every day? If you are not in the top one tenth of one percent of all your peers, you won’t even get to the door, let alone enter it. The path to this is more difficult, mentally and physically, than 99% of all other military specialties. Get in fantastic shape, bust ass in academics, get into a good 4 yr Navy ROTC program, and work harder, 24/7 than you ever dreamed you were capable of. Maybe you’ll have a shot.

I use to work on these out in KBay (VP-4)... Dream orders for sure

The F / A-18 C / D / E / F are the fighters that fly the most with asymmetric loads and taking off and landing in carriers.

The Hornet is my favorite jet. Maybe not as fast as the Eagle but it's gonna sneak up on them MiGs real quiet like and gun them with a big gun. My neighbor is an old F-4 Phantom pilot. He saw a little action in Vietnam. I keep telling him to write a book. He had his share of close calls and narrow escapes from MiGs. These are my 3 favorite aviation books: - The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman - Scream of Eagles by Robert Wilcox - Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson

Man I don't leave out the best fighter in world with a record of 102-0. That's right! The F15 Eagle also about 900 miles an hour faster than the f18 super hornet! Not dawging the hornet though. I like it to. Around 4th or 5th in world in proformance. It's a great multi role platform.

Kemo, Eagle Drivers!! Only the best, most certainly! But the newest Gene SUPER HORNETS are BADASS! Can't wait to see the new Maverick movie. They are the best of the best, truly, multi mission, including air to air, or the Navy wouldn't have chosen them. I was onboard the USS NIMITZ CVN (68) In '86-'88 when they brought the HORNETS on to to place the TOM CATS 🐈. I always loved the Cats most of all, WE, never had one shot down. A Happy & Safe Memorial Days weekend 2022.

Man this would be awesome to experience other than the fact that you might be getting chased by missles every so often. And they may be doing 60 hour weeks and only fly for 2-5 hours a week and in the office 8 hours a day doing paperwork but I would do that if it meant I could do this stuff

Very cool. I remember the F-14 Tomcats and when they were the shit. The U.S. has the biggest, baddest military, PERIOD.

I like air show and the airplanes but I like this one the most

VFA-211 was at WTI in 96. Different jet though.

The upgraded F-14 D Tomcat, would have been a significantly improved aircraft than the Super Hornet. But at the time Dick Chaney did not like Grumman. We would have had super cruise, greater range, 2 pilots, and the service hour issue on the old Tomcats would have been resolved.
