Max AB will probably struggle a bit, at the end of the day dcs is a game without all the physical feedback of a real jet. You can see this often with F1 drivers as well who rely on feeling the physics of the situation and struggle when it's just a screen.

I'm a former mechanic on F-16s and F-15s. The Viper is WAY easier to fix. In most cases, I could have that airplane fixed that day. With the Eagle, some repairs were three days with two shifts working it. Plus they are ALWAYS broke. Thank goodness I'm done working on Eagles. I was good at it, but I didn't enjoy it.

Former F-16 avionics tech. The F-16 has really good onboard diagnostics so it usually tells you which LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) to swap. Pretty much all the parts are behind doors. Plus the jet is really close to the ground so you rarely need a ladder or maintenance stand.

Simulated or training dogfight, those aircraft don't carry actual combat sorties payload. When loaded with air to air and air to ground ordnance with limited combat radius, that F/A-18E/F have more fuel and able to maneuver better. If you noticed, in most war theater, USAF F-16C/D flown mostly air to ground sorties while F-15C provided air cover. Large faster fighters with more fuel are more ideal for air to air that they could catch up and keep pace with enemy fighters. Look at Iraqi Mig-29, Mirage F-1 that are more agile, they failed to splash US aircraft whereas the fast less agile Mig-25 is the only aircraft that scored air to air kills yet made into record of having spoofed & evaded the most air to air missiles namely AMRAAM.

This is just good fun, combining the game play with analysis you'd have with breaking down an actual dogfight. We all know DCS isn't exactly perfectly accurate, especially the sort of scenarios that are set up are fairly unrealistic. But it's still fun to explore 'what-ifs', for sure. Also, I think a lot of us have been watching Growling Sidewinder for a long time, what he says absolutely works in game, but it's fun to see what he's saying be confirmed or added to by someone who knows the aircraft, not the game, so to speak. I actually prefer it when you have his voice up and you're sort of having a one way conversation about what he's saying. But i understand if you'd prefer to just discuss the silent footage. It can at times just feel like we're watching his video with your face in front of it, and i know that's not at all what you're trying to do. Maybe you could pick out any interesting things he says about the process and then address them at the end if they're worth discussing? I guess I've just got a fascination with how much a person can learn from just immersing themselves in a simulator/game like GS has, whether a person like yourself is surprised by how much a person who has no real life access to these aircraft can learn without.

@@MaxAfterburnerusa I'm sure you could tell that the F-15C in DCS is 80's variant with older avionics whereas the F-16C in this game is newer. In clean dogfight, the F-16C is more maneuverable but in actual combat sorties where combat radius is concerned and aircraft are loaded with armament, the F-16C is less maneuverable with less fuel to burn compared to your F-15E. Aerodynamics determined the aircraft getting better acceleration, faster cruising speed and further it could go. You should come up with new video on why F-15 is ideal fighter compared to F-16. Refer Korea and Singapore Air Force that have both the F-15 and F-16, their fighter pilots prefer F-15 because of superior AESA AN/APG-63CV3 (ability to guide missile better at long range), inboard ECM, better avionics, having the speed and range to pursuit & intercept enemy aircraft. In actual combat, enemy aircraft don't always fly towards you like in DCS but they tend to sway away with 1 being decoy to lure, 1 to sneak past by taking 1 big round to outflank approach from blind angle or they'll just play chicken game. Slower aircraft including Rafale would have hard time catching up since BVR missikes don't get to hit targets from maximum effective range which is why countries at high risk of war bought the F-15 instead of Rafale & EF-2000. Rafale has lots of fuel but its aerodynamic is made for low speed stability & maneuverability like the F/A-18E/F therefore it has slow cruising speed and less suitable for hunting enemy fighters that would play chicken game. Look at enemy Mig-29, Mirage F-1 that are more agile, they failed to splash a single US fighter whereas the fast less agile Mig-25 is the only aircraft that scored air to air kills yet made into record of having spoofed & evaded the most air to air missiles namely AMRAAM.

While on paper, the F-15C and F-16C matchup in a pure BFM scenario should result in an F-16C win, the Guard pilots have been devising strategies for longer than the active duty units have commitments. What do you expect? The F-16 was designed as a dogfighter, the F-15 was not. Spoiler alert -the trick is to get to the merge without dying. Another spoiler alert - the F-16 is gonna find that really hard.

Well, even the F-15 was designed from the beginning with dogfight in mind. And does it very well, especially if you take in account its size. It has obviously a different level of performances than the F-16: is conceived to fly higher, faster, to persist more on the battlefield, to carry more weapons and electronics, and to kill further. The F-16 was born as a cheap daytime fighter in order to complement the costly F-15, that remained the spearhead., and only later evolved in the capable multi-role figher we all know. That said, the Viper is deadly in dogfight, even today and against more modern adversaries. The feature that really sets the F-16 apart in close combat is the CCV configuration with fly-by-wire flight controls, an innovation that the F-15 has not received until the recent QA and EX versions. If you have seen the very recent F-15QA display you can appreciate the level of improvement. That thing flies like if had thrust vectoring!

At Red Flag F-15s had to be restricted in order to fight F-16s . F-15s have Beyond Visual Range and has a top speed of 1878 mph. A F-16 could never catch an F-15 especially with AMRAAMs, AIM-120s...Unrealistic.

What would be cool is if there was a mod for the air force proof of concept F16 with 3D thrust vectoring. Can’t imagine the Gforces on the pilot.

Hey Max I been watching your videos on and off and I been listening to what you say in the videos with the Growler vids in DCS Flight simulator. I was wondering if you can do a reaction video to a youtuber I watch who plays a game called War thunder which is a online flight/ground/naval simulator pitting tanks, aircraft and naval vessels up against each other in a team based death match, using realistic damage modules and crews instead of Health points. Anways the youtubers name is Hunter and he does battles in mainly realistic battles or simulator sometimes, his performance is quite outstanding both in ground but mostly in the air either as an attack chopper pilot or fixed wing aircraft pilot, if i didn't know better I swear he served as his piloting skills are similar to what i see in the Growler videos. War Thunder released the F-16 A block 10 into the game about 3 months ago as well as other versions like the ADF version and even though its the first time playing the F-16 Hunter was able to do stuff i only heard about in stories , like dropping extra fuel tanks and other ordinance before turning into a fighter who had engaged him please check him out this videos are really nice to watch. his name is: Hunter_i86 and the video in question is this one kzread.info/dash/bejne/fWmsm9enkcvRcbA.html

Get SRS radio if you are going to be on Growling Sidewinder. Also Remember the F-15C is a missile truck. Spamarram! You get 5 aim 120's fired on you once I get the orange light. Also the F-15C does not have the Helmet Mounted queuing system. Also what F-15 merges at 17,000. It's called the Eagle because you swoop down on him from 40,000. He isn't going to see you other than on his RDR. See you on multiplayer. You have people who have egos that could full a football stadium. My first flight simulator was MicroProse F-117A I was 8. Then came every MSFS. Then came Janes F-15E And now DCS World VR.

General Dynamics called the F-16 a “Fighting Falcon" as its official name. “Viper" is a nickname that Air Force pilots gave the F-16 after watching Battlestar Galactica in 1978, but that's not its name.

If you put GS in the F-15, he would destroy the Viper. One problem I have with his video's, especially where hes fighting the eagle is he always gets the worst eagle pilots.

Do aircraft lose their radar locks as easily as they do in DCS? I always get ghost locks in the hornet too. Where you're chasing a box with absoutely nothing there but I'm guessing it's a bug that has never been fixed.

How hard would it be to equip the F 16 with thrust vectoring to improve its already awesome maneuverability, and are they developing smart cannon rounds? I know they’re working on sniper rifles that can maneuver at high speeds something like that in a fighter aircraft would just be game changing.

Usually the F15 goes vertical and get high and nose over and kills the hell out of you but the F16 1to1 thrust to weight ratio is probably the only plane that can go vertical with the f15 and win and a rate fight f16 gonna win all day

Usually real fighter pilots won’t mix it up with gamers. They have classified maneuvers and tactics they can’t really share. So if they did fight, Growling Sidewinder would probably dominate.

@@Wargasm54 Sorry thought this commit was from another thread were these is a debate happing, but I think its totally possible to do a good fight without any classified maneuvers. The basics can suffice in these situations, he would just have to keep to the maneuvers he openly talk about.
