Ezra Pound Radio #05 (December 7, 1941) "Those Parentheses"
#5 (December 7, 1941) U.S. & U.K.(A66) "Those Parentheses"
"The best reason for publishing Ezra Pound's broadcasts may be the simplest. Thousands of people have heard about them, scores have been effected by them, yet but a handful has ever heard or read them. Here they are." - Foreword
"Anyone who seeks to understand Pound or to write about him and his times cannot overlook these speeches. Although Pound's reputation will forever rest on his poetry and other writings..." - Introduction

Edited by Leonard W. Doob
"The present collection consists of original manuscripts Pound prepared to read on Rome radio... In a few instances gaps in the manuscripts themselves have been filled by sections of the FCC transcripts; these substitutions are clearly indicated."

This recording is an interpretation and not the original broadcast. The reader is not Pound.
#09 and #11 are the only original broadcast recordings (Pound's voice) in this collection.

Finally a Pound recording that I can follow. A lot of food for thought here.
A great project. Thank you for your efforts. [great reading voice]
Ezra Pound was always right, more or less. Amazingly perceptive and honest. He might not have been perfect, but he had courage and integrity. A great lesson for the present. One of the first true "alternative" intellectuals.

“Not perfect”... get lost fed
absolutely spot on when he says a world full of american war bases will bring no true peace. Don't understand what he had against the aussies though, I suppose he never played cricket

Australians are shallow people more often than not.
One of the greatest Americans of all history.
I wonder if he'd heard about the attack on Pearl Harbor when he made this broadcast
Pound would have been much more effective if he had taken a 3 credit hour course called "Money and Banking".
