EZ Snap Boat & RV Window Shade Screens - Installation on our 34" CHB Trawler Boat
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In the video, I go through the process of installing EZ Snap window shade screens onto our 1976 trawler boat. The boat came with custom stitched shades covering the large front windows, but there were many more I wanted to be able to shade if needed. The older trawler has no air conditioning, so blocking out heat would be helpful in the summer. Also, protect the window seals from UV when not in use.

I've used the EZ Snap shade products on my RV, and they are still working well. So, I was happy when the company offered to send me some for our boat.
Installation is very straightforward, with few tools required. Clean and prep the surfaces, measure and cut the shade material, peel and stick on the snap studs, add the snap pins, attach the material and end caps, and you are good to go. The shades are quickly taken on and off and rolled up for storage. After using them for the rest of the boating season, I'll return with a review.

It looks great and makes much more private. When you're moored.
Thanks Ray - this looks like a viable option for my "self heating" vintage Bigfoot camper. It has solid blinds inside which work ok but of course block the views. In my research I read somewhere that black shade cloth is the most efficient. Agricultural shades are always black. I understand why you chose white for Vestri. I sketched out a mounted shade awning for RV's'z that would deploy both ways from the center of the roof and shade the whole unit completely for parking in open country.
Just talked to EZ snap, will look forward to the next skirting video. Will place an order soon.
Looks really nice Ray good job

Thanks 👍
Nice, will check them out.
Thanks Ray - I'm looking for sunshades for our older 1986 3270 Bayliner. Blue ones were provided for the front windows so I would try to match that color. Do they act as privacy screens at all at night when the interior lights are on? If not, I need to replace the original curtains and am not looking forward to that cost, even making them myself. Thanks again for the detailed install- very helpful in decision.making.

No privacy, you can see in pretty good at night since they are designed to see out during the day they work both ways.
Hi Ray great video, it’s almost time for me to change the tires on the fifth wheel and I was wondering if you had any advice for me or reference for tires I’m about the same size as your rv I’m in Canada Quebec actually, thanks

Thanks Ray really appreciate it I will check them out 👍🏻
It’s a neat product, but it needs trim around the edges to look finished.

Personal choice, since the material doesn't fray it would be for looks only. I like to leave it as is so it rolls up nicely. Cheers, Ray
I would save the shipping tube and cut it to length and store the finished products in it to keep it clean.

Generally, it's going to get much dirtier outside than inside. In my experience In the RV park, dust accumulates on them, then it rains, sticking it on, and also birds poop. But it's a vinyl material, so a little soap and water, a soft bristle brush, and a rinse, and it's as good as new again. Cheers, Ray
How are the shades to see out of when the sun is shining on them? I’ve heard white screens are harder to see thru in sun than black ones.

Its early days yet but my first impressions is your right the white is harder to see out of than the dark brown that I have on the RV. I likely would have went with the darker shades if there wasn't already the white front ones. Cheers, Ray
Ray, after using the black shades and white shades, which do you think blocks more heat?

White is cooler to the touch, but since the shades are on the outside of the window with an air gap, I don't think there is much difference inside heat-wise. I think the black is a bit easier to see out from than the white.
Just an fyi you won't find much dust on the ocean.

No, mostly salt spray and bird poops
