Eyewitness Account: Altamont Concert Poster Obtained at 1969 Event by California Couple

The Rolling Stones 1969 Livermore, CA Altamont Festival Speedway Concert Poster.
In our last auction, in April, Heritage ran our first-ever specimen of the famed Rolling Stones 1969 Altamont Speedway concert poster, and it realized $93,750. When a result like that reaches the public, it's not uncommon for someone else to step up rather quickly and say, "Hey, I've got one of those!"
It so happens that not only did we land another Altamont poster after April's result, but much to our pleasure, it came from a couple who attended the ill-fated festival and acquired their poster from a man hired to put them up. And now, 55 years later, they've decided to part with it... given its robust reception by Heritage's vast collector base.
So we're quite proud to not only present another copy of the orange version of the Stones Altamont poster (it was also made in yellow and two shades of green), but to also present the whole story of how David and Maddie Sadofski happened to get their treasure. To do so, we have a written, signed and notarized Letter of Provenance from them which will come with the poster, and also happily present their video "deposition" as part of our on-line listing for the whole world to watch and enjoy.
entertainment....

I did a little research and although a knockoff, this little rock curiosity did indeed exist. Sidenote: I was lucky to see the Oakland Coliseum show a month prior to Altamont and went to Altamont as well. It was such a negative scene and it's a miracle that there were not more injuries. Thanks for sharing your story.

I was 9 when this happened, but I vividly remember that WHO concert where 11 people got trampled to death

I'd respectfully disagree. We got there early in the day and were up on turn 3 of the track, looking directly down on the stage. From moment one, there was indeed a bad vibe to the place. I still have original photos of the moment when the Angels were beating Marty Balin and knocking him unconscious. Things got very "intense" very early in the afternoon and we had the good sense to leave before dark.
