One tip I'd give is do the opposite side first... like, we all have one side that comes easier, generally right eye for righties and left for lefties so if ypu do the harder eye first it's easier to imitate on the easier side

Fr 😭😭😭 but i recommended using liquid liner, and doing a small wing from your eye corner up, on the fold. Relax your eye normally. Then, fill in those areas, and close your eye to fill out the rest of the wing.

Search “hooded eyes eyeliner hack” it is basically just keeping your eyes open completely while doing your wing, it is a game changer and i never have to worry about makeup my entire eyelid black trying to make my wing look right LMAO

can’t do that since i have hooded eyes, ill just continue using my liquid eyeliner

@@Liz-ru2bq the gel thing wont work since it’s really dry and with hooded eyes you have a longer eye crease (?) and the pen doesn’t show up as a straight but more a jagged line. And the crease in general is just kind of in the way.

@@Angelica-ld1cl do you apply ur liner with ur eyes open? because usually that bent line comes when ppl w hooded eyes do it with our eyes closed. i made that mistake at the start. both gel and liquid work the same in terms of where they put pigment on hooded eyes, depends which ones easier for people

As a beginner who has never done eyeliner before like last year I surprisingly was able to use liquid so quickly! Like my sister said she was so jealous that I was so good!

This helps a lot I tend to use the “crayon” liner as a base then color over it with the liquid liner because I like the pigmentation better

I really needed this… I’ve been trying to use eyeliner more often… because I feel like I look better with my eyes done. No makeup, just mascara and eyeliner

As someone who started off really good at eyeliner this is very similar to what i did. Just instead of black eye (sorry not sorry) used brown and instead of brushes i would use q-tips ans toothpicks. Brush or sponge nibs are really helpful as well.

I always and have done this since middle school back in the late 90s But after the pencil or cream liner I go over it with liquid liner. I feel it just looks better solid color and it makes it easier because all u do is trace it

still use this technique!! honestly prefer the way it looks than when i use liquid liner 🤷🏻‍♀️

Practice makes perfect so keep doing liquid liner, it’s more opaque. Not everyone gets it right the first time

Yes. Absolutely yes. Gel liner or pencil liner are so much easier to manipulate than liquid, speaking generally and from experience

Since I was a beginner I actually use liquid eyeliner with a straight point. The gel pencil was too hard for me but I’ll try it again

I say don’t go for huge eyeliner that hard to begin with and remember that practice makes perfect

This is really good advice because all the other were talking about liquid eyeliner but I could never 😅

Here’s the best starter advice I can give. Start with eyeshadow eyeliner or just doing a classic liner (just lining your lash line without a wing.) the classic might not be trendy rn but it actually looks pretty good imo. And the eyeshadow takes a few tries and I recommend using a slanted brush. Then you have more control. The eyeshadow is also less defined so you can’t see mistakes as easy, and you can smoke it if you fail.

All I use for now is a crayon eyeliner. It is really easy!

I actually think this is a really good trick even for non beginner's!!!

I started out with liquid liner and just used the tape method and eventually muscle memory did the rest for me lol.

My gel liner smudges off so i draw lines with it and use liquid one to trace and finish

ok so, this is just for me i think. i am a painter, i love drawing till i was young, and when i first tried putting on eyeliner with the liquid one, i did it perfectly and for me it’s the best one. BUT of course for other people it’s not like this so good hack, and if you don’t have the brush try with scotch

Riiight!! I do painting and I draw often, so when I started makeup and learned the best position for my hooded eyes (which took less than an hour) I managed to get it right away, a bit of practice and I was doing eyeliner pretty well As for beginners, this is a helpful tip! But gel might be awkward for hooded eyelids, since its dry

The gel liner looks great

This was actually a trick I used to follow as a beginner and still now. Kajal(kohl) sticks work better than kajal pencil (sharpable ones) becz pencil ones have pointed end which can be painful to eyes. Use the kajal sticks (crayons one) that are twisted at the back. And those glides like butter and easy to apply and easy to clean out excess and can be redone if not done perfectly.

It's okay, that's how I started out too! Watch videos of people doing eyeliner and try it on yourself to see what looks good. Eye shapes also determine what looks good, so try and find someone with a similar eye shape to teach you!

Liquid has always been Easier for me, but I for sure never have done my Liquid Liner ever like that.

Not me who learned with liquid eyeliner and became pretty good at it over the years 💅🏻

Another alternative is using liquid liner but not in a pen, but the ones that come with a tube and brush. I find those little liquid liner brushes so easy to use, and you dont have to worry about them drying out like the pen.
