"We got RUSH fucking CRANKED in the van! Wish us luck!" Eyehategod front man, Mike IX, updates me via text as the band approaches the US/Canadian border. It's January. 8, 2018 and the New Orleans four-piece are white knucklin' through a blizzard towards Montréal.
Late the night before, they got news that Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society would be postponing a few shows due to severe illness. It's a minor setback for the band, but come hell or high water, they're determined to clear customs and play a couple shows in Canada without BLS.
Felony charges and jail time have prevented Mike from entering the country in the past, but if all goes well, this will be EHG's first time on Canadian soil in their 30 year career.
"Foufs tonight with CoC (Corrosion of Conformity). Spread the word please! We're still at the border and waiting to get into Canada," replies Mike, when I ask how they are making out at Canadian customs.
Moments later, another message from Mike lights up my phone. "I'm in!"
After a 3 hour interrogation at customs, Mike "IX" Williams, Jimmy Bower, Gary Mader and Aaron Hill are en route to Montréal. Meanwhile, my video crew and I are kicked back at Foufounes Électriques, getting ready to shoot video of the Eyehategod set. A few hundred restless fans stand in line, and one guy tells me he's had time to drink 5 beers while waiting impatiently... At last, the door opens and folks stagger through and up the stairs; a hardcore blue-ooze fuelled evening awaits.

Agreed. I had a 20 yo tshirt from the last time I saw them. I said my 20yo son was with me. He asked to meet him. Literally one of the best people I have EVER met. Humble as fuck. This guy is the best.

Dude , EyeHateGod more recent shows have been fucking awesome, Mike IX took off for a while because he had to get surgery and stuff , now that he's back and healthy he sounds fuckin amazing, they always sound great but yeah Mike IX and the guys kickin ass as usual

Ive met Mike and hung out with the band a few times and theyre all super nice guys. Consider them as mates I get to hang out with once in a while.

GOD FORBID A "PROFESSIONAL", INTERNATIONALLY TOURING BAND HAVE ITS SHIT TOGETHER SO THE PEOPLE WHO PAID THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY TO BE THERE CAN HAVE AN ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE. If the crowd has to tell you the vocals are fucked, you have failed.

Please ask Jesus into your heart now if you haven't done so already. Each one of us has sinned and needs redemption, each one of us needs to be forgiven of our sins to enter into Heaven, a sinless place where there's no more tears or sorrow, or they will instead go to Hell, a place of torment without anything good, and only Jesus Christ, the messiah, the savior of the world, is able to forgive you of your sins so you may enter and live for eternity in Heaven with God because Jesus came to earth as a man, born of a virgin, a man that lived a perfect life without ever sinning, Jesus was God in the flesh, He performed miracles like giving sight to the blind, curing diseases, and even bringing people back from death, but was hung up on a cross to die like a criminal. That was the sacrifice that saves us from our sins, because the price to pay for sinning is death, but when Jesus, God in the flesh, is sacrificed for his love of us, he paid that price for us, the sins that would have sent us to Hell were borne by Jesus, our savior, on the cross, and by His wounds we are healed. That wasn't the end though, on the 3rd day he rose from the grave, defeating sin and death. Before returning to Heaven, Jesus told his followers to go out and preach the Good News of salvation so that others may be saved as well. I hope that whoever reads this understands that I love you and want the salvation of your soul, because all of us have sinned, nobody but Jesus was ever perfect, and everyone needs his FREE gift of salvation. All you need to do is say in your heart: "Jesus, I recognize that I am a sinner in need of salvation and that you are the only way to salvation. I ask you to come into my heart and forgive me of my sins. I submit to you as my lord and savior. Please help me to turn away from the sins of my past life and be born again into a new life of living to resist the temptations of sin and serve your holy purpose for my life. @@kas-sp8dx Who says you have to only listen to Christian metal after converting? I don't. There might be plenty of Christian metal, but not plenty of "good" Christian metal. As a guitarist, or any other musician that might be in a metal band, you have to practice the "good" stuff, even if you're Christian metal like Demon Hunter, you have to have roots in bands like Sabbath, Slayer, Testament, Exodus, and a lot others that you'd never hear playing in a church, but it what it is, that's good metal. God wants you to come as you are, that's the important thing, I don't know what all changes God would work in you, but I do know that salvation hinges on acceptance of Jesus, not on which metal bands you listen to.
