The Baltimore line is so disingenuous. The absolute record for Baltimore is actually 108 degrees. While 107 degrees was hit back in 1936. They will just twist it to say 101 is a record for THIS date on the calendar exactly.

@makkyd123 Congrats, You have no reading comprehension. The problem is they worded it, "Baltimore set a new record for heat with 101 degrees" that implies that it's the all time record. They didn't elaborate further, which is misleading. I can't say it's intentional for certain, but the whole clip is them freaking out because summer is hot.

Sadly, even if we stopped all carbon emissions today and endured the instant collapse, chaos and death that would result from that move the planet would still continue to warm for decades, perhaps even centuries. Civilization is going to collapse because we're going to shoot right past 2C. We needed to act back in the 70s, but of course, the Republicans-- enemies of all good things-- said "NO!" Indeed, so petty were they even back then, Reagan removed the solar panels Carter had installed on the White House. And how they made fun of his sweater and thermostat set to 68F! And today? We can't even get them to wear a stupid mask during a pandemic. Things are never going to get better. Things won't even stay the same. From now on, each year will be worse than the one before. Our future is a horror. Though... having said that... life is always filled with unimagined surprises, so someone might discover a technology.

Not enough people believed in this and neither did counties across the nation. Now, we are ill--prepared, but we can start making changes.! This won't have much to do with electric cars or solar power but rather putting money into better infrastructure in order to deal with the coming of more and more extreme weather, increase of extreme weather, and the burden that puts on communities. It's so sad that we had a chance to truly commit to helping us get through this time in our species existence and blew it!

Extreme weather has happened all the time. The world shouldn’t always have “normal” weather. In some places, the weather might be fine , while one will have a disaster and vice versa. What people don’t understand is that these are regular environmental occurrences, and have been around as long as the Earth has been around. Things like tropical storm Alberto have been worse in previous years and better in previous years. Same with the extreme heat and flooding.

Yes, a Texan who regularly sees 108°, that’s not strange. I’m guessing you have A/C and are accustomed to it. While it may be normal for you, it’s far out of the ordinary north of the 45th parallel. You must understand, people up there are not used to it, probably don’t have A/C, and have no way to cool off their houses at night, so it just stays 100° inside and out. 100° in the northeast is insane. I was in the heat dome over the Pacific Northwest in 2021, and while 100° is pretty normal for Texas, it is not for seattle. No one has A/C, and it was absolutely miserable, there was no respite from the heat.

@@b.aorellana6079 WW3 was right after WW2, being the first global trade war. A New York Times bestseller in the late 1960s was titled "How Japan Lost the War But Won the Peace". It's still worth reading, considering it became a template for other countries to use. You know that for sure.

It must be just me but this seems like the normal weather patterns to me. I haven't experienced this new found heat. It's been high 90s low 100s in summer almost all my life.

Yes, exactly! It’s supposed to be in the 90’s in the summer time. I remember it always being in the low to high 90’s growing up in the 1970’s-1980’s, and many days of low 100’s. The news is always so dramatic, especially when they’re pushing to get buy-in for an agenda…
