Yenneffer I don’t know if it’s my inability To understand how fry screams could ever Be loud that is if you even know what I’m talking about But I think fry screaming is supposed to be quiet a little bit He sounded so loud sounded like he was screaming from his throat no wonder he was reacting the way he was.

  • @omega1231

@@gageclark2390 The volume of fry screaming comes with practice, but it is by far the most quiet type of distorted vocals, but with practice you can definently get it to speaking volume fairly quickly, which is done by maintaining the distortion, but pushing more air through the compression. The practice obviously mostly involves maintaining the distortion, and controlling the flow of air, what i suspect happened with our guy in the video is that he had no control over the airflow so in the attempt to make it as loud as possible he basicly went through all of his air so quickly that he tried to continue with no air, which ended up making him sound like he had all the air punched out of him. Also, i suspect you are correct that the distortion didn't sound entirely healthy, but his biggest problem is mainly maintaining airflow, also the harder you push the more exhausted the muscles in your vocal tract becomes, and it definently sounds like he exhausted his vocal tract, like it just gave up, and not necessarily because of the distortion, but because he pushed so hard, and continued to push even after his body gave the first "nope" might have been nerves aswell, who knows really, plenty of factors to consider. Anyway though i can respect him for going on national TV with warpaint on, even if he embarassed himself lol

I saw Opeth in 2003 in Columbus, Ohio. The show was FLAWLESS. About 5 songs in Mikael apologized for sounding bad due to having a cold. The entire audience went silent in disbelief. Then started shouting the most positive stuff at him like "we can't tell...it's ok...please don't apologize... don't worry about it...you sound amazing". It was like the polar opposite of a singing fail and I wish there was video of it. Even he started laughing at the reactions he got. It was the most wholesome thing I think I've ever witnessed at a Metal show. Haha.

But the production knew full well how terrible they are and they had several rounds of auditions to eliminate them before the actual TV shows. But instead, they spend the time hyping them up, telling them how good they are, just to make them the laughing stock for the entire country/world.

I think because Mariah's getting older, she can't go up there and do those high whisper notes like she used to back in the 90s. Plus, the result of not keeping your voice in shape will cause your voice to not do what you want it to do. It's always best to be smart vocally because if try to belt a high note and can't do it, stop yourself and find your sweet spot

eh, never forget the behind the scene stuff of those casting shows. all those people are already selected before "the first audition round" starts. it's always more marktable if the good singers have a "sad backstory" or "are relateable". The bad singers are mostly heavily praised and strongly supported by the producers so it's easier to convince them to make stupid things and wear weird outfits. such a strong support of course boost their egos naturally. and not to forget, those reel vids are always heavily cut (in comparison to the good singers) so you can assume they cut the awkward moments together.

@@KuchiKaeschtliTV I retract my old comment because I've seen commentary vids about what goes on behind the scenes. TV talent shows are super manipulative and will do anything to make money. I'm glad they're dying off, tbh. They mentioned that they would purposefully boost "bad singers" egos up only to bully and make fun of them on national television. Or they would have them stage their "freakouts." It sucks because their lives are never the same and they'll even lose friends over it. Do you know the story about Meghan Alexander?

its a lot like underwater photography, you have to be so stupid good at scuba diving that you can focus on the camera. I remeber Adam Lambert learning that hard lesson on some early big awards show performance or something.

Some of these I empathised, some of these I was glad to see. Selena Gomez pissed me off. BTW musical theater is great for training lungs: the dancing for one but also sometimes you get one song to do a full costume change then be on the other side of the stage for your next scene where you get three lines before singing your big song.
