The only potentially negative effect this could have is the increased aldosterone secretion which could cause hypernatremia and other electrolyte imbalances but this would very quickly be resolved basically as soon as he started drinking water normally again.

The only time I ever saw urine being boiled was during a chemistry show on Netflix where they extracted white phosphorus. Forgot the specifics exactly but now that I'm seeing this I find it so amazing how much more satisfying taking a piss can actually be.

Finally a use case for a device that can replicate smells like a monitor can display pictures. Not sure why it never took off, but there are interesting use cases.

Hard to believe that this wasn’t filmed during quarantine.

Very cool. I just found your channel and subscribed. It would be tempting to approach the isolation a different way but I haven't worked it out. Perhaps try to bubble air through the original urine and see if that could selectively oxidize or flotation separate off the majority of the proteins. Vertical gradient freezing could potentially remove the bulk of the water as ice. Perhaps an extraction using toluene could be useful? Ultimately a gradient freezing method will probably be needed to achieve a high purity at the end. Just some ideas to kick around for fun.

Great job. Historically gunpowder production involved some degree of urine input to make potassium nitrate. I think phosphorus might also have been produced. I seem to remember that bakelite (think old black telephones), involved urea, as well as some adhesives and Formica. Making better use of urine would be the ultimate recycling success, if it could be achieved without too much energy. Direct processing into fertilizer probably makes the most sense at the moment. It's funny that processing pee makes us a bit squeamish, but some modern food processing is way worse than this!

You can use the leftover minerals to make phosphorous. I tried it once and only got as far as phosphoric acid.
