That's quite a strange way to do it. Instead of stirring sand with HCl, I'd heat it (or even held it on reflux) for several times longer. There's barely any color left in sand after boiling with acid. The whole point of acid treatment is to remove all the contaminating metal oxides, and because iron and manganese give the sand it's off-white color, the color acts as a litmus of whether acid treatment is done.

@@vibzzlab But the sand was still in the shape of large grains when you added HCl. At this stage, aluminium would be in the shape of aluminosilicates, which are virtually unaffected by HCl. HCl washing after precipitating the SiO2 would be, in my eyes, the only effective way of removing them. Ideally, for maximum purity, do the silicic acid precipitation with HCl, and add more until the pH is sufficiently acidic to dissolve aluminium oxide. Then, do a first washing with dilute HCl, and further washings with distilled water. This has the added benefit of removing any metals that carried over during the sodium hydroxide dissolution step, and avoids introducing sulfate impurities, in my experience far more difficult to remove from the surface of metal oxides than chlorides.

Zhuiri Magnetoelectric Technology Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the development, production and sales of magnetic separation and electromechanical integration equipment. The company was established in 2003. In the past two decades, the company has been committed to the research and development of powder iron removal and purification technology. The "ZR0709 series electromagnetic powder iron removal equipment" independently developed by the company has a high magnetic field gradient, a unique structure, and a significant iron removal effect. It is widely used in new high-purity powdered silicon, carbon materials and high-end materials required by photovoltaic, lithium batteries, and electronic products. Iron removal and purification treatment of powder materials in ceramics, high-end building materials, abrasives, chemicals, refractories and other industries. Since the product was put on the market, it has been highly recognized by users. It can partially replace the traditional high-polluting pickling and iron removal purification process and solve an important technical problem for customers, thus creating a new era of physical iron removal. In 2011, it passed the appraisal and acceptance of the quasi-expert group of the Provincial Economic and Information Commission, and the main technical indicators reached the international level. This product has been granted a number of national patents by the State Intellectual Property Office (Patent No.: ZL2011203128583, ZL2012200761494, etc.) The main products include ZR0709 series electromagnetic separator and electromagnetic separator. The iron removal effect ranks first in the world.
