Extra Small Tiny House Built for a Traveling Minimalist - Full Tour

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Tour this extra small tiny house! It was built by Seth Reidy from Nelson Tiny Houses in BC, Canada for a travelling, bird-watching minimalist friend who wanted a simple home on wheels. This tiny home is just 16-feet long, including the 2-foot bump out for the kitchen counter. It has open concept shelving, a small workspace with storage below, a ladder up to the sleeping loft, and a spacious living room with a wide bench for sitting, napping, and hanging out, that also has loads of storage space beneath it. As an extra space to sit, there are hooks for a hammock that can be hung across the living room. The bathroom will have a shower and toilet but hadn't been completed at the time of our visit.
For Seth, it was fun to build such a tiny house because it's reminiscent of the size of tiny we used to see at the beginning of the tiny house movement. He has built many beautiful tiny houses of all different sizes and you can check them out on his website, Instagram and KZread, linked below.

@@FeelItRising I mean, a lot of those goosenecks utilize the gooseneck to have a standing bedroom that tall people can use, and that's pretty valuable. Sleeping lofts are great for kids or guests, but I know I wouldn't want to live day after day unable to stand up and change in my bedroom lol. That being said... A lot of those goosenecks are huge lol

It's an educated guess on my part that photographers use short focal length lenses in such videos to make spaces appear larger than they actually are. Is someone trying to fool us? I dunno, but I do know something about photography.

@Jon Commons 8 x 16 might be near to the size of a rental cabin we see sometimes. Mini kitchen, etc. They work. The main problem with that size range isn't so much the living space, but little room for seasonal clothes and current clothes. Then there's the hobbies. Oh the hobbies. Art supplies for my spouse. Model airplanes and trains, firearms, ham radio, archery, and books. Where will those along with support supplies for each be stored?

Great video. I'm not a fan of the fancy tiny homes with 35 foot trailers and jumbo washer dryer combos etc etc. There's something very strange about what's been happening in the tiny house movement with regards to the original call to minimalism and simplicity vs glam tinies. I'm an old school fan: wood, tiny size, warm feel, simple, rustic, cozy. Lloyd Kahn and Jay Shafer stuff😂

This is not meant in a mean way: It looks more spartan/frugal than minimalist to me. Perhaps those terms aren't mutually exclusive, maybe I've just come to associate minimalism with this very clean but still comfortable style that is popularised on KZread... Idk, he obviously doesn't own much, but it still looks a bit too cluttered for my taste. But I really like how small his house is. I find it a bit strange how big tiny houses have become since they first started, so seeing someone get back to the basics is really nice and refreshing. I'm hoping to build my own tiny Tiny House one day, similar in size to this.

Beautiful spot. I would like one exactly like that as a cottage. Not for a couple. I wonder with all the books and stuff on shelves how he did manage for travelling with it. But it seems it is a permanent location sort of . Also I would have a visit of the toilet. Very good views of the surrounding area. Great idea to feed the birds just in front of the window. And the window in front of the counter is very appreciated.

I like this it is what I remember at the start. The kitchen counter is not much bigger than my kitchen in our single wide when we first married. And lived in for about 11yrs with our two kids. But it was ours and we had a good size yard and most of the time, our rent never went over $150.00 a month. Then we moved into a house.

Now this is a tiny home! I would add some color into the interior though if it was mine😊

Thoreau's simple cabin on Walden Pond was approximately 10x15 feet. Interesting how we gravitate toward those dimensions as we return to a minimalist tiny house design.

This is my kind of tiny house I'd have on a horsefarm! In Florida! With solar Pannels! I want an efficient fridge, way to shower/toilet, and an AC unit as well as a way to charge my laptop and Phone. That's all that I will have also and a washer/dryer combo! and a Hammock!!

For some reason I like seeing tiny houses with some doors , even if they lead to no-where.
