the fascinating thing is that we get our name for penguins from auks, which we were familiar with first and yet now auks are pretty much forgotten. it's brutal

Iceland is my favorite European country The reason is bc I think it’s more unique than the others and it’s a very peaceful and calm island with cool history mythology and nature It’s also very unpopulated so there’s barely no people there

What I've always thought was interesting about Iceland is that it's a very cold country yet there are still a lot of volcanoes, so it's called "the land of fire and ice"

There have been animals people thought were extinct but were still alive, like the pygmy tarsier. It could very well be the same for the great auk
