Very good explanation. I also had a stent placed last year. My stent was placed in a section with branch and some blood flows across the stent wall (not from one end to another) to the branch. I wonder if it is a normal practice to do this way because if the junction is clogged (the stent wall is "sealed:"), there seems nothing that can be done in future (you can't cut a hole on the stent).

The stent was deployed in proximity to the hip joint. Are you concerned about kinking of the stent with motion of the hip joint?

why use a Viabhan covered stent? Wouldn't a simple self expanding stent like Protege or Lifestent work?

It is already necessary to move away from aorto-femoral shunts, otherwise there are a lot of complications

Why would you stent the groin?

@@mandalorian4620 any artery thats no longer letting blood through has it should either has to be stented, or if stenting can,t be done. like i had this problem in my left leg, last year where the artery was beyond stenting, so the surgeon put a man-made artery in its place,(made of plastic) i think in time the body coats it inside & out with tissue,'making it its own, if it hadn,t been for this, there would of been no other alternative, so i would have lost my leg, i have to help it perform & keep working by making sure i keep taking bloodthinning medication, with i do,without fail, cos apparently it can clog up, esp at first,, the surgeons are marvelous people, & worth their weight 50 times over in gold

@@michaelgoulding6609 In this video you see the implantation of a stent, i.e. a wired tube to open a closed artery. There are open vascular surgeries such as grafts or bypasses that should probably have been done here. You seem to confuse these options; you received a graft, not a stent. Usually you do not place stents in the groin and popliteal regions etc because they might get dislodged or cause damage to the vessel wall due to the movement in those areas, so we'll perform bypass surgeries instead.

@@mandalorian4620 well like i didn,t mention in last comment, i,ve just been in last week to get a stent in my other leg, (cos that was going same way as my leg i had done last year, has i mentioned) this stent i,ve just had in, is over 11inch,s long,( they told me in cm,s but i don,t understand metric, so i asked how long in inch,s, they said just over 11", it starts in thigh area, ( femoral i think) goes right through the politeal artery to just below the knee, i was concerned beause of ov i need to bend my knee, they said, oh don,t worry about that, these stents are disigned taking that into consideration, they said they can be bent twisted ,made into any shape, & they return to there normal shape, they don,t collapse or move either, my leg was bit sore last few days but ok now, just sore now where they went in at, groin area

Dear brothers and sisters I can understand that you have lot of love for your old age parents. But, if they are not ready for any kind of surgery don't compelled them. Allow them to die peacefully in their home by meeting with their near and dear in place of giving death to them in operation theatre in fear and lonely condition. My mother wants to take her last breath in house but I taken chance of surgery and I lost her😔
