I'm looking for a cord that has little-to-no "memory", i.e. it straightens out easily after having been coiled up tightly for some period of time. Many power tools have this kind of soft, flexible, rubber-like qualities, but I haven't been able to find it in extension cords. 14-16 gauge would be preferable and a 13 amp rating

Any of these Southwire cords will be your best bet for resisting a “memory” from extended storage ss1.us/a/LhAYiPCN. Their vinyl jacket is more resistant to drying than the average cord, which helps prevent the memory you’re worried about. As far as vinyl jacket cords go they’re the softest we carry while still maintaining high durability.

Excellent and clear but...how many amps does my microwave need or use? Where do I find that info in order to get the right extension cord?

If your microwave says max 1800W on 125V, then it takes1800W / 125V = 14.4 Amp max. It's safe to use a 15 Amp cord, as long as it's not running at max power for hours.

    You can see this information at 1:54 of this video, where it says 15 Amp 125V and 1875 W, 15A x 125V = 1875W.

Is a 12 gauge cord too big for a 7 amp leaf blower? Too much power?

Can I use American cords with a rating of 125v in a country with standard voltage of 240v for my appliance?

I assume the major concern is the current flowing through the cord that heats up the cord. So you can use American cords with 240V source, as long as you have proper adapter, and your appliance doesn't consume more current than the current rating of your cord.

I have a small dewalt jobsite fan, if I use a 25ft extension cord 12/3 rated at 15amp. The cord provides more amp than tool requires. Will it damage my fan?

Nope, the rating on the cord is the maximum amperage that the cord can carry. As long as your fan draws less than 15amp the cord and fan should be fine. Great question!
