I think Kovacic really tried to play through balls to Haaland like KDB, but I feel he struggled there... at least he's trying his best at CDM though. Rodri is irreplaceable..

Nah.. Many starters did not play in the cup game. Rodri would not stop Ake from being outpaced by a winger. Even in the derby Rodri was outpaced by Rashford a couple of times.

I'm tired of comments speaking negatively on Akanji and Ake as they were the best defenders on the pitch, yes they could have done better but they weren't the reason for our loss, as usual Kalvin is absent from defence and playing striker position, Dias unfortunate own goal, the constant loss of possession in key areas by Kovacic, Doku not passing the ball to Haaland and Alvarez, we are also missing so many key players from the starting 11, with odds like this the time to step up is now. COME ON CITEHH 💙💙

“Stunning Alvarez free kick” - The fact that it was probably our worst performance all season, bar the Newcastle game, but at least Alvarez scored a good free kick. 😂

For the game winning goal, I don't understand Akanji planting himself like a keeper instead of going after the player with the ball in the box. Other teams' defenders furiously try to prevent any shot on goal, especially from close range. They get in the attackers face as fast and as much as possible. He seemed slow to react to what was happening and then decided to become a football mannequin. I hope he wasn't sick or anything. And Kalvin seemed to give up far too easily on a play, preferring to throw his arms in the air and look towards the referee despite play continuing. He's got to keep going after it all the time, especially if he's the one who's been dispossessed of the ball. With all of the strange calls being made in the game these days, no one should count on the referees stopping the play, not matter how obvious an incident was. That applies to everyone, not just Kalvin.

If they had kept Nunes in the game, for sure he could have drawn enough fouls for the other team to get a red and be down a player. But he was already fouled like 4 times in the first half so prob not worth the risk….
