@Angelous Bacon ok you're over-exagerating the word'injured'. What I meant was that he was already aware that he wasnt playing his best due to problems with his elbow. It's not just Djokovic that's done this, Federer continued playing too (a few years ago) for a period of time and even had to change his serve motion. He's done it in this Aus Open as well. Sometimes you gotta keep playing even when there are some problems, it's when those problems become unbearable that you need to stop playing. Just like Novak did in Wimbledon 2017 when he retired to Berdych, a player he NEVER lost to. I rest my case that Kyrgios is gonna get clapped XD

Although that was Djokovic's worst year, Kyrgios implemented a perfect gameplan. Top-notch serveboting plus Simon-like pushing in rallies where Novak didn't have an opportunity to adsorb opponent's power and had to create the pace of his own which led to a bunch of errors. If Kyrgios had a Ferrer like mentality/ was a hard worker and montivation zombie, even prime Djokovic would have a very hard time beating him.

This rivalry, Dustin-Nadal and Thiem-Verdasco show how pointless it is to use H2H as an indicator of how good or bad an individual player is. It simply shows how well they match up against each other.
@2CSST2
4 жыл бұрын
If used so simplistically yes, it is pointless. But if you use it in a sensical way than it isn't pointless. For example, if a player has a good H2H against almost all other players, it shows his game has less flaws than another player who might have a very good H2H against some players and a bad one against others. For instance, Djokovic himself has a positive H2H against pretty much every other player. Kyrgios is the exception of course, but then again they played their 2 matches right during Djokovic's worst period of the whole 2010 decade.
@guillezorro
4 жыл бұрын
@@2CSST2 Well, yes that goes without saying. If sb has a positive H2H against nearly everyone else then it generally means they win nearly all their matches, and therefore tournaments. I mean that"s kind of a simple statement. He has an incredible serve, so breaking him when he is in his flow seems impossible sometimes. However, unlike other players he"s terrible at coming back. Like a Nadal can come back from 2 sets down, that"s his world. He becomes better during the match. When Kyrgios looses points he gets frustrated, making him play shite. He tries 10 dropshits in a row, even if the first 5 fail.... He is by far, by far, the worst player when it comes to focus. He doesn"t have passion for the sport, like the other tennissers have. Where their whole life only revolves around tennis. With these major character flaws, pure talent wise, he"s one of the best. But you can"t ignore that.

2022 Wimbledon Final repeat please 🙏
I remember this. Nick was frustrating the hell out of Djokovic by absorbing the baseline with wonky shots and then combined with that huge serving wreaked havoc on Novak finding any rhythm in the match. It was a huge upset at the time given that was Djokovic's second "early" exit (R4 isn't early but it's still a shock loss for a big 4 player) in a big tournament following the AO loss, especially also being the 3-time defending champ at the tournament here before this loss. And it was Nick's first back to back win over a big 3 player as well, and on a surface perhaps more suited to the big guys... and in straight sets again. It was against the forecasted script that's for sure. Nick showed a level of maturity that was never seen before... a cleverly crafted game plan with patience and controlled aggression when required to end points effectively. It was deceptively deadly. He can leave you feeling bored, clueless but also randomly alert, angry and anxious at the same time with this mind-playing gameplan strategy.
Never seen Djokovic ground strokes look so weak in a match before.
I wasn't a Tennis fan, and how I am thanks to this guy amongst others, and highlight channels like this one! THanks
2:56 you rarely see such low smashes. I really liked the lady's reaction from the spectators.
