I left and came back randomly just because and I noticed the cars were under a vsc and thought "no freaking way". Kudos WEC, it may have cost a Ferrari victory but I'm so glad it was done

Yes those 2 laps are definitely gonna ruin the whole weekend for you and would have saved time. This is no point to make about F1, F1 is laps, WEC is time. Would make sense in WEC but not in F1, plus in F1 its not like they don't resume the race if there is a considerable number of laps left.

@@lichh64 The way F1 works now is that you get a 3-hour window in which to have the 2-hour race. If there is significant delay in starting the race (extremely poor weather, for example), then they go racing for whatever amount of time they have left. This happened in Japan 2022.

"Nearly 8 hours for the 6hours of Spa" As it should be, well done WEC.

Steeling over 2 minutes from the leaders and completely manipulate the race result definitely was not making motorsport a true winner. Fans were happy to see the cars circulating again, superficial fans may have even enjoyed because of their lack of sense for justness, righteousness, fairness and other positive values but generally I know of people that were really upset for administratively taking the clear victory from one team and as a gift hand it over to another team. How the motorsport could be the winner in that? I would have to be completely blind to think that.

@@itsoscargil Last years races were mostly to formula (aside from LeMans). Toyota running away with it easily, then the Ferraris and the Porsches, then the rest of the field all the time. This year it's a lot more variable, Quatar was clearly Porsche's day, Imola should have been Ferrari if they don't fuck it up, Toyota pulled a masterclass instead. This time was also up in the air, and now it was the privateer Porsches that looked strong instead of Penske.

Starting? This series was amazing during the Audi/Toyota/Porsche years and again starting last year with the introduction of the Hypercar formula.

Yep that is the instant way to fix tracklimits, just replace all the runoff areas with gravel.

As a fan watching trackside that hour and 40 was one of the best periods of racing I've seen in a long time

I was coming to comment the same thing!!

I was there. I remained hopefull for maybe a 1 or 2 lap sprint during the red. When time kept ticking down i was on the cusp of going "its so over". But then. When the announcers went "sike" i reached a state of unparalleled hype. Then i ascended into the "we're so back" dimension as i misheard the first call and thought it was 40 minutes. But no. We got the full 1 hour and 40 minutes. Amazing

I was there too, i'm so happy !!! When they put the red flag, i was at the pif paf curb, and then i walked all the way to the pitlane just to hear that they'd put the time lost to race again, we, with my wife, were astonished by the respect that WEC race directors have to their fans, we LOVE WEC

FIA, ACO and IMSA have done something out of this world with these championships, amazinng.

We are literally living through the prime of wec. New manufacturers jumping on, good competition, a lot of attention by the fans. I love it

I watched it live on Eurosport qith my wife and 1 month old baby girl. It was an amazing race! Thank you for these highlights! Such a tight class, the Hypercar. Love it.

Though I feel bad more towards WRT LMGT3 team than the Cadillac, I think they also suffered from their crash, with apparently Cadillac got a grid penalty for the next race (Le Mans 24h).

God, I love sportscar racing

All of that ballast on the Proton #99 963 was the weight of Julien Andlauer's massive balls

In fact one of the best and most action-packed long-distance races.

For a motorsports fan this weekend was magical. Incredible races by WEC and IMSA, we are in the thick of sports car racing.

WEC is where it's at ..... F1 go do one !!!

Best race in a while ( and i go to spa a lot ) . Watching the hypercars twitch through pouhon and the gt's battle it around brussel and jackie ickx into pouhon was just magic. the fact ALL the temporary stands were open and free to use was an absolute winner. The sun was shining. We all got a little sunburnt and the search for water that didn't come from a tap in the toilets was endless ( camping building at malmedy / brussel btw ) . Just a great day and the best yet ( also the most expensive. In 2015 it was €25 at the gate, in 2024 it was €70. )

Cadillac seems to have a habit of huge wrecks on Spa

The Porsche caused the wreck, he moved over and tried to block the cadillac from passing when he knew the cadillac had the run on him..driver of the Porsche should be suspended at the least.

WEC probably has the most detailed and informative racing broadcast overlay graphics while being clean and easy to follow. This makes it fun to watch a race for 6 hours or more. Without these I am not sure if I would even watch the broadcast for more than 30 minutes. Great job for the team that made these

Specifically the BMWs. One of which a BMW prototype dumped a JOTA Porsche into. And they are all Team WRT, both Prototype and GT.

Congrats to Richi Lietz! He shows time and time again, what the combination of experience and excellence can deliver!

Fantastic stuff from the best race format of all, makes F1 look like a sterile, hyped bore.

Great credit to the Jota Porsche team for the victory, but once again the decisions of the race director affected the final result of the race; they should have let everyone leave under the same conditions.

So good they have brought back the gravel in La Source. That has massively improved fair racing. It was far to easy to gain some advantage and carry that all the way down the straight.

Amazing race

One of the most dramatic endurance races I’ve ever seen. Great work on extending the race length

Despite the setbacks (red flag) it was a great race, a lot of excitement, it really is the rebirth of the golden era of motorsport, I support United and the Iron Dames, I love endurance 🏁🏁🏁

no no, let it be exactly like last year; Toyota vs Ferrari vs Peugeot vs JOTA(the better run porsche because Penske dropped the ball horrifically in setting up the car last year vs JOTA who'd had the car a month) VS Glick. everyone (except vanwall) could have one the race at one point last year, hopefully its the same again this year

So happy for Will Stevens and Calum Ilott. Fantastic race yet again and massive credit to the organisers for extending the race after the red flag.

This ONE race is more entertaining than an ENTIRE F1 season combined. - F1 in its own right is fine, but I can't relate to cars which are basically just front for anything BUT automotive. Porsche, Ferrari, Toyota, BMW, Lexus, Chevrolet, etc...THATS what people relate to, not a can of toxic 'energy' drink, ad nasuea. - Wish i could be in France next month for the big-one!

Great work from the stewards and organizers to get the race going again. A smart decision which everyone was happy with (apart from the Ferrari fans who feel they got screwed....can't make everyone happy) Loads of manufacturers, great battles, great organization rewarding the fans. WEC (along with MotoGP) is the sport to watch right now. Bring on Le Mans.

yup the new fans that came through with ferrari hate the rule that everyone hated at first, yet have grown to love, because its the rules worst case scenario which happens 1/50 races or so, wait till they hear about the 3 car safety cars at leman and let hell brake loose if the ferrari looses time and ends up in a different sector because of it

I really can’t understand how you can say smart decision. Really people don’t like thinking. (Also moto gp it’s probably the worst races, the organisation said that they want make more sprint during the weekend because the only part interesting of a race it’s the start where incident can happen, and you call the best sport)

Also "the only part interesting of a race it’s the start where incident can happen", funny you say that when the most exciting moment of the Le Mans MotoGP race on Sunday was the last 5 laps.

@@herozero8809 They vastly improved the Safety car system at LM for last year. They collect them back up from the 3 SCs before restart and also separate the classes so it's less messy with them mixed. I hope they will keep that for this year, I see no reason not to.

The race was 6 Hours of Spa, and 6 hours of Spa is what we got, so stop complaining. Extend the race was 100% the correct choice.
