To be fair, cannibalism is pretty common in the natural world. A lot of animals do out of necessity often as a means removing weaker members of their own kind or as a resalt of their own indiscriminate hunger. Cannibalism is only evil if it's unnecessary. As for humans, cannibalism is quite unnecessary. Because we humans don't have to eat the weaker members of our own kind to exist. For us, cannibalism is a choice.

For people like my grandfather who also was put in a Japanese camp during WWII it was yet another spit in the face by the Japanese government. He got off based on a technicality. From my loose understanding: the French jailed him, but the public didn’t want him in their jails, on their dime. He got deported & Japan declared him insane or some personality disorder. So he got institutionalized instead of jail. Japan: while a cultural & engineering marvel, some of their practices are something out of the 1800s.

As a Brazilian I can... kinda explain why Pedro Rodrigues didn't got more years in prision... it's because our laws prevent anyone from being imprisoned for more than 30 years in a row... i'ts kinda fucked up, but to someone be locked up for more than that it need to have more than one case and they must be judged separately... if not even if their crimes go 100+ years it will equal to 30 years at best...

I think it's absolutely CORRECT not allowing for more then 20 years. It's civilized. even though n RARE cases like him it leaves a bitter taste in our mouths. And it's pretty standard in MOST civilized countries. The American (and even Japanese) judicial system doesn't count as civilized. And I'm Brazilian, and of course I kw about "Pedrinho Matador", but I didn't know he has an KZread channel. It's not talked about at all in Brazil as far as I know.

America’s system is trash but you don’t get over 30 for no good reason usually. Tbh, most horrible criminals get way less than they deserve in the U.S. The bigger problem is the amount of innocent ppl in jail as well. Neither have anything to do with “too long sentences”. Also, no offense but I really don’t want to hear that about a South American country, especially Brazil. Maybe you guys have different rules or whatever but the amount of horrid stuff I’ve heard ppl get away with in South America is shocking. You guys don’t have “civilized” judicial systems either.

7:50 no Aki, as a Brazilian im sorry to say that our laws and jail time are really horrible like that. He got that time cause all of the people he killed, if he had only killed one or two innocents his time would be a whopping 6 to 20 years in jail max. Its horrible, but unfortunately its our law.

@wyterabitt2149 Exactly, but in any case we have some of the worst inmates and most criminals do come out far worse no matter how little they're in there. The whole system needed a whole remake, but the way it is it fails both at rehabilitating and at keeping dangerous people off the streets

Hi Aki! As a brazilian I can say that the reason Pedro only stayed ~30 years in prison is because brazilian law at the time didn't allow inmates to stay more than 30 continuous years in prison (now it's 40 years). We don't have life sentences. Technically, Pedro was sentenced to 126 years in prison, but after 30 years he was released.

I'm not a really a fan of family channels because I feel like most of the time kids are not being treated well. Then other is the crime channels I'm on the grey on that some youtubers are actually mindful and actually do the research and actually talk to the people who were involved and respect boundaries. The other make assumptions and don't do there research and only believe what they want to believe which is bad.

PS 242,000 subscribers isn't that big of a channel in Brazil. Any minifcraft channel has over 100,000. It's a 216 million people country with one of the highest usage of internet in the world. You won't even make enough money if you monetize it. You'd still have to have a side job.

Crazy that "Mr. Anime" was based in my city, also crazy about literally everything else, but to think that I've possibly been to some of the places he's walked into at some point, it's still chilling. Oh btw I had a friend who actively a fan of Stephen before the incident, he actively engaged with the community and even considered taking commission work from one of his friends.

That interview was the most bizarre and disturbing thing I got recommended by the algorithm and it took me over a month to stop thinking about how this guy murdered someone, then got celebrated like a popstar by japanese media. Another creature (typo intended) is Peluchin Entertainment, killed cats on camera and KZread thinks he should be able to keep producing videos on the platform after 1/3 of the world's population reported his channel

Hearing about mr. Anime no matter the year always feels so surreal to me. Cause when what he did dropped I was a mess. I lived a two hours away from where he did when this went down and I had no idea. People I followed at the time like, BionicSlime I had no idea who knew him came out to make videos explaining what they learned, and delete any and all videos of him in it or mentions of him. As well as fans making video responses over what he did, cause they needed people to talk to about it over hearing what he did. I cried over this for 4 day and my BF who I told all this too was mostly shocked to find out how close this tragedy too place. It was almost a week, but my bf was a great support and did the only thing he could and that was give me videos that made me laugh, which did help at the time. Now as a fully grown adult I am still shocked over what Mr. Anime did to his family and almost did to students at a school. I am just glad he got life in prison, cause he dose not deserve to be set free.

in brazil we don´t have life in prison, 35 years is the max you can get, at least at the time. The whole thing about all the drug traffickers being as bad as him is pretty complicated. They usually have ties with the government, police and sometimes help communities. Speaking as a social scientist in Brazil, it is all very complicated.
