In the movies the "popular girls" always wear high heels but in real life everyone at my school, literally everyone wears sneakers (There are also people who wear boots) I've never seen someone wear high heels except for play rehearsal because one of the girls characters had to wear high heels so she took her socks and shoes off and put the heels on for rehearsal. These types of movies do more harm than they think. The concept that being “basic” is bad tells children that liking things that are considered to be “basic” is wrong. Personally for me, movies like this contributed to my “not like other girls” phase. Like the fact that you need to be quirky or “different” to be considered good or special enough to be the main character is so awful to bombard children with. I know it’s a movie and it needs to be entertaining or whatever but they could pick a less basic trope. It’s Disney, come on y’all step up your game
