Exports of US LNG soar as Europe weans itself off Russian gas • FRANCE 24 English

Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine last year, Europe has been forced to find an alternative to Russian gas, which it relied heavily on. The European Union has turned to liquefied natural gas, or LNG. Last year, the United States became the number one exporter of LNG and that trend has continued this year, despite alarm over the potential environmental consequences of extracting this resource. FRANCE 24's Fanny Allard reports from Louisiana, with Wassim Cornet.

High wages, high energy - Europe becomes uncompetitive and dies. They do not seem to mind.

Wow its a long process of transfering the gas from Texas to Lousiana. Then a long process of Liquifying it, after that load it into ship and it takes 15 days to transfer it across the Atlantic. So, it is going to increase the price by large amount.

Great, Europe has had a huge trade surplus since the 1950s. This will help equalize those surpluses.
