For those using Mac M1 or M2 , Adobe does not provide Wraptor for newer Mac anymore. Here is a video to use DCP-O-Matic which is a free DCP software and allows 4k. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lX6ewaN6ddffYaQ.html

Of note, from online research, pretty much all US festivals and most festivals in Europe dp accept DCP's with a 25p frame rate. Excellent video, thank you very much! :)

IMPORTANT FOR MAC USERS. Most cinemas (festivals) need Linux or Windows formatted drives to play the DCP from. So, while you can export DCP from Premier Pro on PC and be fine. Mac users have to jump through another hoop: how to transfer to a windows drive.

I made my own DCP for two festivals it worked great and yes, you need to format EXFAT so that the PC based projectors can read the drive (and that my a mac can read it as well if you are editing with a Mac) And I should note that I used DCP o matic and not Premiere Pro @@Hazball

Hi, thanks for the video! I did what you said but for my movie, when I export the DCP, it doesn't work, it says : "XML files are validating against their corresponding XML schema definition". Do you know what went wrong?

In 2021 Wrapter DCP was removed from all Mac M1/M2 Silicon versions of Premiere.

Great video! A few questions: I've already exported a 1920x1080 film for a festival. Can I just put that video on a 1998x1080 sequence and export with the DCP settings you mentioned? Same question for a 21:9 film export as well. TIA!

Yes you can, but mainly make sure the theater or the festival requirement is the correct DCP ratio that you need to deliver in. Then just have video new sequence and scale it to fit inside it. Either have black bars on side or top and bottom just to fit in the projected resolution of the projectors.

Its normal the file are seperated as DCP is not like a normal video but a package of files. You need a proper dcp player to play it as one thing. DCP o matic is a free software that includes a dcp player.

DCP is not like normal video files, it also only plays with a DCP player and does not play as a normal video.

Would be GREAT if it actually worked like that. Just bought a new macbook pro and the Wraptor DCP option is GONE. None of the previous workarounds help. I tried downloading Premiere on an older computer, but.... no it won't download even an older version.... NOW WHAT???

No, you can only choose between the two 2k resolutions that film theaters can project. As 16:9 full HD is a TV resolution and not for a film theater.

It export as it a collection of files and not just a single file, can just export to anywhere but remember to copy all the files it is making or copy entire folder to a drive you are going to give to the theater.

Apparently you have to format the drive with EXFAT if you are coming from a mac.

My export menu does not look like this and I do not have Wraptor DCP as an option. I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 22. I have created literally dozens of DCP files with PP and the Wraptor format, but it's missing after upgrading. Any thoughts?

I need to check what adobe have done to 2022, as render screen is very annoying and might be totally hidden or removed. Otherwise you have to downgrade Adobe back to older version if possible.

if you only shot at 1080i and the final export says 2 k wont it look unusual? isnt there a export for 1080I rather than 2k? thanks

No because , DCP is meant to export for movie theater use and 1080i is for TV use , you should had filmed in 1080p atleast.

Suggest always ask the festival or theater about the maximum size they can project.

I am not from Adobe those number and codes doesnt tell much, you need to read rest of error message as often it written in there what went wrong.

shall we export the Subtitles separated or burned into the images? what do you suggest? As subtitles burned into keep the style but the ones separated files loosing their font style and look terrible. cheers

Warning: Some festivals now state explicitly "no DCP exported with wraptor accepted" ... apparently there are issues with this exporter

These relate to only theater projectors, most home projectors can just play normal formats, but theaters require special format they can play and project.

4:22 is what you're looking for.

You need to download DCP player to see it, its not a format for any normal player as its special for theater use. You can download player via dcp o matic website here dcpomatic.com/download

Hi, hoping you can help with this. I have a 1 hour documentary to export in dcp. Most the footage is shot in 4k 60fps. My sequence settings are on 4k frame size. I selected the 1.85:1 frame size as I can’t purchase the 2k format. This means I have to re-adjust my clips in the sequence. Now the estimated file size is 805gb! Surely I have gone wrong somewhere. Any suggestions? 😳

DCP export very high quality uncompressed so the sizes will be gigantic. You can try DCP O Matic which allows you to alter the bitrate yourself, but Premiere Pro one is very limited.

Yes they can be protected the passwords are keys 🔑 that are .xml files that can unlock the dcp by upto the hour. Generally keys are unlocked for a week. The keys are for that DCP and one authorizated projector. Making it unable to be used/stolen.

Your information is incorrect! 4K DCPs can be played on 2K Cinema Projectors, it will be downscaled to 2K a there are no problems beacuse there is now 4th generetion of projectors and servers. Next time please make a test or ask someone who works in the industry.

That is still dependable on the theater not every theater has newest generation projectors as there are plenty small theater who don't feel need to update. Always best to ask theaters for required format is still the best way to proceed.

1st generation projectors also can handle 4k DCP, projection. Also in your video there is another wrong thing, You don't ask theaters for what screens they have that it could make effort for" which aspect ratio works the best" as you sad. It depands only from DoPs in th postproduction process, the DoP decides what the movie should look like and it depands what camera he had work with, what lenses he had and what he would like to show in the picture. Is the screen is flat or scope the DCP package will be adjusted apropriate ti aspect ratio of a screen.
