@@JanicasJourneys We went to Valkenburg again somewhere in november I think, El Castillo is really the most unique restaurant experience I've ever had! The staff was also very nice and cactus soup is a new favorite dish I've never heard about before lol.

In 1957, our family visited Valkenburg and toured some caves where mummies were on display and there was one residential street with very low homes ( ceilings must have only been about 6 feet ( 2 m ) high. The street was lined with equally short flowering trees and looked just like a van Gogh painting and also made you feel as if you were in an earlier century. That street I will never forget. Wonder if it still exists but I have no idea of the street's name. Any one know? I could then look at in on satellite. We spent the night in a hotel in Roermond as it was getting dark and my father didn't feel like driving the 3 and a half hour trip back to Den Haag. In those days, there was only a few miles of autobahn near to the German border. Or do they spell it the Dutch way: autobaan?

We went a few months after it had happened, and you could still in some places see the damage. Some shops and restaurants were closed and under renovation because of it
