    Good to know that he finally got the watch he wanted. Same as him, I also just bought a black dial K serial 16570 , in a similar state only without the box and papers, just around 3 weeks ago using all the knowledge I learned from your channel, Austin. I got mine for about 850k Yen converted. Thank you for sharing all these vids!

    I'm considering going to Japan solo this summer, see kabukicho and some of the shinto shrines, maybe pickup a Rolex while I'm there. Any tips for how much Japanese to learn to go to the dealers and get one? I've been learning hiragana and katakana, need to learn some of the important phrases also for a trip.

    Hi Austin, just discovered your channel, really nice and sincere take on the market. I’m planning to travel to Japan in January 2025 and get myself a Submariner 16610. I know it’s quite sometime until there but how much am I supposed to pay for a model in good condition ? Thanks and congrats for the channel !

    Hi Austin, I will be traveling to Japan this coming May. Was just wondering, will it be relatively easy to get a jubilee bracelet (in good condirion) for Rolex GMT 16710 over there? If yes, what will the price usually ranges around? Thanks in advance!

    I'd get one through RSC. It'll be new, and cheaper than a used one. Not sure the going price these days, but I'm sure north of a grand.

    Hello Austin . I will be visiting Japan in september from dubai . just wanted to understand our opinion on the rolex GMT master 2 either the 126710BLRO and 126710BLNR . Do you think the prices would be better in japan . or it is a safer bet to get in dubai .what is the price for these in japan currently for a 2023 model there

    I'm confused by your comments about polishing at the 5:00 mark. You say it's been polished at most once and that if RSC got a hold of it, they would polish it to a like-new state, yet at the beginning of the video we know that the watch was just serviced by RSC in 2023.

  • @watchsymposium

    @watchsymposium

    Wow, I didn't even notice that the service date on that 16710 was just last year! OK, it's very unlikely that it would have acquired that many hairline scratches between the service date and now. So, on second thought, I don't think it was ever polished. It's very likely an unpolished watch. (When I saw the card, I just assumed that Rolex polished in when they overhauled it, because it's just standard practice for them to do so. And not noticing the date on the card, I assumed it had acquired the wear post-service.) What I meant about them making it look new, is that while it is coated in hairline scratches, none of them are deep. So, if RSC gave it a very light polish, it would look amazing. That is, if they gave it a light polish, and went very easy on the beveling (which they tend to pronounce when they polish a watch - the nickname for it being "Bexely Bevels" or "Bexely Edge"), then one might even mistake it for an NOS piece. My point in bringing this up in the video is that I want people who are new to watches to look past the superficial hairline scratches, and focus on the overall shape of the case. Good comment - thank you! - I should have taken note of that service date!

    @@watchsymposium Thank you for the great reply! I have heard that you can ask RSC to not polish the watch, but I have also heard even if you ask, RSC will still polish it. Maybe this is a case where RSC Japan listened to the customer and left the case alone.

    LOL as a watch collector of over 30 years, don't say it's been polished at least once that's just BS.

  • @watchsymposium

    @watchsymposium

    Actually, saying a watch has been polished (at least once) is about the only thing you can say with assurance. The reason: you can often - sometimes very easily - tell if a watch has been polished. BUT, saying with certainty that a watch has NEVER been polished is nearly impossible (unless you know the history of the watch).
