Y'all really got to stop saying the DS is weedless. It's an exposed top hook with 2 very thin and soft flaps of plastic on either side. Those little flaps fold down very easily as soon as they touch anything. Don't get me wrong, it's a great bait and I use them all the time, but it's not as snagless as something with a fiber weed guard or a Texas rigged bait, not even close. The baits wide shape up front, and line tie angle is what really helps it slide over wood.

We recommend using colors that are similar in hue to the forage species around the areas where you are targeting. Example would be Haze is a great bluegill imitation, where Donko can be a great goby and even crawfish imitation.

I don’t really understand the point of a short leader. At the very least you might as well make it the length of your rod. Also wow that is such a heavy set up for that little sleeper hook. Most people throw them on a medium power spinning rod, not their frog rod. Using it like a flipping bait is an awesome idea though that I will definitely try

I agree, they get snaged quite easily eith the exposed hook. If you fish between dead trees and pull it up at the wrong moment you are pretty much parting ways and your dark sleeper becomes exactly that. . .
