Neither. They are the very monsters they need to secure, contain, and protect the rest of us from. Most of the O5 are written as being at least half anomalous themselves, and more than a few directors are fully anomalous. The Foundation is part of the abnormal things they have to keep away from the rest of the world. As such...they habe no real connection to baseline humanity, normalcy, or sanity.

    2 жыл бұрын

@@jacobfreeman5444 From what I've read, it goes a little further than that - they _control_ the baseline and then pretend they're grounded in it, when in reality they're just keeping the benefits of the anomalous to themselves while civilization either gets the table scraps like a delicious Cocoa Puffs knockoff or Garfield lasting long enough to enter memehood, or just outright continuously suffers for their mistakes. They accidentally made entropy after screwing up in an international 001 proposal. Defending Earth from SCP-001-KLN (which was all for nothing, btw) destabilized political climates worldwide. They literally own memetic agents that bend time and space to make more Foundation personnel, made from an empire a British imperialist retconned into his racist fanfiction. It's implied that after the shot that killed JFK broke reality in another 001 proposal, the containment procedures in place are really an excuse to stifle human progress and call that "normal," as normal as a world without consensus can be. The very concept of color is the result of a containment failure - but SCP-6500 would argue that's how it was always meant to be. Speaking of which, 6500 tells off actions like those by proving to the Foundation just as much - they have no connection to the baseline because it's a farce made up by them so they can hog all the good stuff, and anomalies are a natural part of the universe. So as punishment for their hubris, all of them, not only the villains but also the ones that could uplift the world, are now gone.

The former is, to my knowledge, the largest MTF utilized by the foundation, being basically an army, and the latter is the O5 Council's personal MTF, and even the two combined couldn't retake the site.

Seems weird that they had to source tusker DNA from the tree itself - there's no mention of the previous experiments with apples or chickens doing that, so it's possible the whole "preservative fluid" idea was completely unnecessary in the first place. Even if the human genome still rejected it, at least they wouldn't have needed Essence of Godzilla and Rotting Serial Killer.

Appreciate your reading. I hate to say it, but man, the writing in this one is pretty awful. Like disregarding how comically greedy Muller seems to be, they want us to believe the foundation just jumps the gun on application? 4 years of testing on chimps and they're ready to fundamentally alter all of humanity drastically and obviously? First off, they've got like a thousand experiment logs on a single vending machine and the foundation basically admits they have no clue how it works. But not even gonna try a second test on gorillas or something? Second, this breaks the veil of secrecy that in this very same story they try so hard to protect. As if people aren't going to realize no one has died of old age in even a year, maybe a month. Not like everyone noticed when a single species of dog that not everyone has suddenly started dying. Third, in the real world drugs generally take like 12 years to get FDA approved, if they get approved. I know it's not a requirement to know the intricacies of science to write SCPs but all R&D takes a while and it's pretty common sense. Even video games take years and those don't dramatically affect the lives of every living being on the planet in a way that defies our understanding of the world.

That might be the saddest missed opportunity in the whole history of SCP. You get the chance to imagine and create a whole seventh kingdom of life. Something that's not animal, fungus, plant, bacteria, insect, etc. You can only be stopped by your imagination, nothing else. There are hundreds of amazingly creative speculative evolution and speculative xenobiology projects online. And instead of creating something truly magnificent, something that'll go beyond the SCP fandom, you go hurrrr sooooo there was this anime species of anime creatures called AETERNALS bcz its sounds really kewl buuuhh they were like eternal get it thas why they called eterns or whatever, bcs that's how people name creatures the Fungi kingdom is called that because mushrooms are funky and ummmm the creatures of that completely unique seventh kingdom are... like a dragon... which had scales... despite scales are a common trait in an already existing kingdom of creatures, and there's also like a "tusker" which sounds an awful lot like a mammal, but its not cuz its a unique branch of evolution and like an azhdarkid pterosaur, hurrr and that lazy sob even used an actual illustration of an azdarkid lol. Just disgusting. Why be creative when you can just waste everyone's time?

It seems a bit out of character for the foundation to meddle with something so dangerous to defeat a non-anomalous threat like aging. The foundation could've destroyed humanity in the scp-5000 timeline by sawing off the branch containing humanity. Maybe scp-2935 was caused by the GOC neutralizing the tree.

This is the first I've ever heard of the Foundation being so petty as to expunge records of their own culpability in some negative event. I could believe such behavior from some Site Director, but the 05s would eventually find out and put a stop to it, I would have thought. I'm admittedly a novice to the wiki, but I've seen a lot of evidence that they're willing to do the right thing even at great cost to themselves, and this is pretty much the opposite of that.

I think it's more a statement about how Europeans often have really stupid ideas about nature, making short-sided decisions for personal gain that damage the environment, where the natives of the lands they invade had done a perfectly fine job of caring for their home before they came in and fucked with it.

  • @ernestareheart4238

I don't think that way. I think it's just a somewhat ambiguous attempt to generalize a somewhat common trope in most Native American mythology and folklore and make in more accessible to the casual reader. It's definitely not perfect though and a bit clunky but at least it's not a total stereotypical caricature of itself or a thinly veiled white saviour narrative. I'm a quarter Muscogee (Creek), so I'm not sure if I have any authority really on the subject to begin with. Never really spent much time around other people of my heritage, my grandfather was full blooded, but he passed when I was a baby. So, mainly just second hand learning and vicarious imagining through vigorous reading.
