The one thing the anthropologist in me would absolutely love to see in Riven and Tay (and yes, I know I will never get), is just everyday people going about their business. The eras look so lived in that I want to see people actually living in them, walking around, fishing, cooking, teaching, building, weaving or just hanging around.

I think in the age of riven itself there’s somewhat an excuse for the lack of npc activity given Gehns tyrannical rule etc. but Tay was slightly disappointing. Imo there should have been more stuff happening there and the player should have been able to interact with a lot more of the area. Will be releasing a review of the full game soon though, definitely will be addressing these points!

I saw someone in the Riven remake fan group on Facebook sharing screen captures of getting to the top layer of the golden dome. Apparently, it turns out to be a glitch. I wish someone could also recreate the same glitch to show it on youtube. As far as I know, the person who shared the screen capture mentioned that Cyan fixed this bug. Well, only two days left… we can finally see the full game!

I agree about the cgi models. Would be awesome if they looked like Hellblade 2 character models, though. Still looks beautiful 😊

Myst was upgraded a few times keeping things as they were in the original. I replay Riven regularly, so I was hoping for more of a note-per-note recreation, a realRiven version, with all the graphic enhancements, freedom of movement, and being able to explore areas not accessible in the 97 version.

I totally get that! I’m honestly shocked this is the first time they’ve touched Riven since ‘97, you’d think given it’s popularity within the fan base they’d have done a realRiven before now. I am excited to explore the new areas and I’m curious to see how it impacts the rest of the game - Riven is so interconnected that I feel they’d have to mess with the core DNA of the game to account for these new elements. Crazy to think it’s actually releasing tomorrow!

There is a new easter egg if you get on the maglev, turn it around, then get off. You can explore an area that previously didn't exist.

Thank you so much for pointing this out, I will go take a look! Cant believe I didn’t stop to think you could do that given how prevalent that was in the original.

@@officialcrowsnest There's also a bad ending if you immediately use the prison book at the start of the game.

CGI models look bad. I wonder if they could use the original footage and input it in. just not allow scrolling or movement while they're speaking that way it could be used. Would fix any issue of being taken out of the experience.

I can guarantee you that transposing 640x480 video into 4k would look exponentially worse.

@@tomservo9254 Also, freezing the player in place makes for an extremely unpleasant experience in VR, and it doesn't feel great in non-VR either. One thing we have learned since the days of Myst and Riven, is that taking control away from the player always feels bad.
