Petra, Jordan is a wonder of the world that we have always wanted to visit. Our day here didn't quite go as planned, but we learned so much about this fascinating place, and it was such a good day even though it wasn't perfect ;)

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this KZread channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

The Jordanian tourism board owes you both. Your blogs from Jordan have so many of us looking at airfares and dreaming of walking in your footsteps and eating the same meals.... except the sheep head. It looks like an amazing place and not too over run by tourists. Thanks for climbing the 850 steps for us!!

Glynis Rogers well, I thought sheep head was awful as a meal ,, until I landed in Scotland, and been introduced to the black pudding ( pigs blood) for breakfast,, I vomited all my organs out on that day🤮🤮🤮.... god, sheep head feels like strawberries now....

I had the most amazing experience in Petra . I am 33 and always been overweight . I have lost about 20 kilos in the last 3 years. I did this walk and the hike in October and felt as if I have conquered the world . Never I would have imagined to do anything physically taxing . Also it was just mind blowing .

Petra is notorious for the ill-treatment of its horses and donkeys you can see in this video how they are forced to run on cobblestone streets, hit repeatedly and just not taken care of. Very sad and one hopes tourists would stop supporting this cruel business. There have been efforts by some organizations to deal with it I don't know how successful they are from this video it would appear not

❤️I was just there in Petra in January! 🇯🇴 PETRA TRAVEL TIPs: instead of buying the expensive Bedouin Coat, we bargained with the shop owner and he let me RENT IT for the day for $35! I came unprepared for the cold so it was a life saver. ALSO - the shops get progressively less expensive the further you walk. Don’t buy from the first shop... keep walking!
I just booked my flights!!! What a coincidence. Love you guys, have great and safe travels and thaaaanks for all the inspiration.
Hi! A small correction on what Nate said about the Nabateans. They weren’t necessarily just thieves, they were nomads that became small time to big time traders. Petra (which had a different name then) over time became a major trading post and the Nabateans controlled several routes in the area until the Romans came and did what they do. It’s believed that Petra once was a very large glowing city with several oases and man-made water routes too. As usual I love the video though and can’t wait for the next one!

I do not believe any longer nomads becoming traders did this, with exactly what tools. I am an engineer and I have no clue how this was done and by who.
Perfect editing in this video!! Especially how she made the audio of the guide at Treasury sound like a rap song. 😂😂 I had my own rollercoaster of emotions watching this video. Thank you Kara & Nate for bringing us along in all your adventures! ♥️♥️

I've seen a lot of Petra, Jordan vlogs and this episode is one of my favorites. I love the trail going to the lost city.
I love walking in popular places after hours. These types of days are the most memorable. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome editing Kara! Especially the sound, where you hear the tour guides talking mixed with music, very impressive!
This is so absolutely beautiful! ❤️ Even the editing on this vlog is superb (as always!) ☺️ Petra, always been a dream of mine, and God willing I will visit soon, but in the mean time I have you guys to thank, for sharing your adventures with us ☺️ Big hugs to you both from across the World 🤗

Petra looks incredible. Can’t wait too visit 🙂
I loved this video! Like Nate, i too thought Petra was just the Treasury. So great to find out that it's so much more! Your joy at reaching the Monastery made me smile. Thanks. I really appreciate the work you put into these amazing videos!
Definitely going on my bucket list!! It looks like so incredible
I was privileged to visit Petra and was so pumped for your video. Then when I saw your insta and that it had been so rainy, I was worried you didn't get a full experience, but you got a FULL experience. H aha! This video was gorgeous. Loved the time-lapse sweep in front of the treasure toward the beginning.
Thank you both for showing us parts of Petra we didn't even know existed. You are such professionals; love ALL your videos!
OMG IM SOOOOOOOO JEALOUS! I love history and Petra is steeped in it. You guys ROCK
Some of my favorite vlogs you guys have made are the ones that don’t go as planned. Travel is great and exciting but it definitely has its lows. You both do such an amazing job turning negatives into positives (but still show the negatives on camera) and that’s why I will continue to watch and love your videos!
Another stunning video. You did the country justice, and I want to go there!
Wow, the treasury was impressive! It felt like it was in the middle of nowhere and the canyon y’all walked through to get there was so cool! The day turned out great even with the rain. Stay you 😘
What a great video and an incredible day!! Thanks for sharing with us 😎💖

Wow; this is amazing! I've always had a recurring dream of that area where you almost got trampled by a horse,, and then finding a series of caves and temples carved into the cliff walls, and had no idea this was a real place. So weird! Thanks for sharing.

In 4 weeks I'll be here. Keep up the traveling, it's a beautiful world. I'm most proud of one world treasure a piece of the summit of Mt Everest, (black slate), 29029 ft above sea level. Now if I can only get a rock from the Dead Sea, 1410ft below sea level, what a contrast.
It looks so cool in the video, i can't imagine how cool it looks in real life!!

Hi Kara & Nate - a fab video - thank you for sharing - we visited about 15 years ago !!! I did the Monastery hike on a hot summer day, it was brutal and I was covered in sweat but it was so worth it. So is the second hike for the view above that they called "the best view in the world". The AC in that restaurant was a blessing.
