The Cotswold Explorer When I was living in the Mildenhall area, I enjoyed a week in Cirencester. I was at a B&B, and the owner showed me how it was an ideal "home base" from which I could easily visit beautiful places that are nearby. It was a great few days; Bibury, Burford, Burton-on-the-Water, Upper Slaughter, Stow-on-the-Wold, and then I moved on to Stratford-upon-Avon, before returning home.

Went on a tour and we visited Stow-on-the-wold. Had a pint of Cotswold BB ale in the Queen's Head. I never expected this rural area to be so packed with visitors, it felt like you were out on a street of London... It may have had something to so with it being a sunny Saturday, but gosh, this is not the peaceful towns I expected them to be lol.

Thank you for such an engaging series. I live on the south-western lip of the Cotswolds, near Wotton-under-Edge (Wool Town under the edge of the Cotswold escarpment), and know most of the places you show. I particularly appreciate that you step off the well-known paths into lesser known and no less fascinating villages. You have shown quite a few places that I have not visited. October 2020 is shaping up to be such a lovely autumn, and apart from when the Cotswolds are decked as a bride in spring, is a perfect season for exploring - especially the snug country pubs! I've just joined your Facebook group and subscribed.

From reading the comments I just realized you were not a program on tv but a private production company - outstanding and I love that we still have a level of sophistictated, erudite, intellectual discourse that respects the intelligence of the mass public - thank you for this.
I hail from India and I am student of English Language and Literature. I have done my Masters' degree in the same. I have always been fascinated by the explanations of the beautiful English countryside. Your videos stand testimony to their claims.
That dog is absolutely adorable.
Well I must say you both do an absolutely incredibly so so professional job anybody would think any of these videos that you do were done by the BBC or iTV it is that good!!, the commentary and the filming is absolutely second to none.. thank you so much this is amazing... but someone should put both of your names forward,TO TV!!👍🏽😊💙
I’m an American with English ancestry. My family name is Edghill. So you see why this episode is of particular interest to me.

I am an Englishman, living in Thailand since 2003. Married to my lovely Thai wife, we have been planning a trip (now Covid very much in the way) with her in mind, to introduce her to English culture, architecture, distinctive areas of the United Kingdom. Over many years, I have worked, lived and travelled greatly over just about everywhere. There are many beautiful places and one, is the Cotswolds. Thank you for this very informative and well-presented video - I will show it to Kessera!
Another great video, beautifully presented and a beautiful place. Thank you. Bob

I am English but live in Sydney. I've always loved the Cotswolds (always said I would retire there but time has passed & it's now all too difficult). I've just dicovered your wonderful, professional, fantastically presented videos & so enjoy them. Thank you so much for giving me such pleasure. Each village/town has it's own charm, i'm sorry but I can't pick a favourite. 💕

It’s difficult to imagine how Great Britain would be now had the royalist army had prevailed at Edge Hill, we might still have a full monarchy rule, with the aristocracy still in the ascendency, or we could still have Parliament as our rulers (that’s what Parliament is, our rulers, not our representatives), luckily we will never know and can accept our lot, and be thankful we live in such a beautiful and diverse nation. Thanks for sharing another wonderful tour of the Cotswolds, interesting and informative as ever. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴 P.S I very much enjoyed Michael Portfolio “railway journeys” very much in the same vein as your tour of the Cotswolds, but I think you would have done a better job of it.
I'm enjoying learning of the history of The Cotswold region and how it played an important role. The towns are quaint and look welcoming to visitors. I've never visited the UK but your programmes give me the opportunity. Thank you for sharing the beautiful towns and the history. Cheers.
My name is Sérgio Luiz Lacerda, I'm Brazilian, I live in the city of Curitiba, State of Paraná, Brazil. I always want to receive information from the Cotswolds. I love Cotswolds Thanks!!!!

Hello ,I am on episode 2 of your excellent tours of the Cotswolds. I am ashamed to say we have never been ,but a avid traveller of our wonderful land we live in,so diverse in beauty in every shire ,we will endeavour to correct this when this pandemic abates? We live in Troon Ayrshire but it’s a bit of a stride right now.I had a great uncle who lived In Ilkley and injected a lasting interest in the his surrounding area ,just as you are doing with your Cotswolds scenery and historical facts. Interesting fact you produce whisky ,well my son sent me a excellent bottle Yamasaki single malt from Japan,so no pressure .Keep flying the flag.
Marvelous episodes! Wonderful episodes of one of my favorite areas in the world. Very well presented and done! Would thoroughly enjoy content on Lechlade-on-Thames, the River Leach, Eastleach-Turville and Northleach! None of the “Footloose” series has covered these particular areas of the beautiful Cotswolds. Thank you!
Glas to see the trees in leaf in this episode, plus flowers. Thank You! flowers 💐
Stow-on-the-Wold! I remember stopping there when I took a tour of England! Never made it back though. 😕
How serene and beautiful the Cotswolds are!
We recently stayed in a cottage just outside Epwell and had no idea about the Epple pronunciation. But it's a wonderful part of the Cotswolds and so little known compared with the tourist honeypots further south.
Really enjoy your videos! Love the pup and the fedora, too!

The Cotswold Explorer by Robin Shuckburgh Well it's only that I have not visited any of the places outside my country I was passionate in searching videos on old streets of England which I have viewed in a plenty I am drawn by rather concepts and things which has a remarkable ascthetic value And the way these episodes are featured the way it's taken the way it's edited And the time it's recorded the year way in which hue brightness and contrast is mastered And the incidental track and the background score is set for the video and even the musical background scores are so soothing It's a masterpiece legend And above all the narrator Robin Shuckburgh Sir Two thumbs way up for him He is built for the kill Passion and profession is beautifully converged
I lived in Long Compton and know all the areas viewed in this episode. I was hoping when in Braille’s and by the parish church that a few hundred years away turning left on to little street which takes one to a Black and white house when entering the doorway leads up a flight of stone steps at the top entering a door one is a lovely little catholic church where i worshipped on Sunday, also at the R C Church in Shipston on Stour. Lovely area.
I live in Stow on the Wold in a pub called the Queens Head. In fact when you did that shot on the green bit, it was outside my place :)

13:00 Stow on the Wold, junction of 3 Roman roads - Salt Way, Fosse Way 14:55 Small lanes off Main Market. Sheep main trade. Lanes built winding and narrow to control thousands of sheep 17:40 Tunnels running under the buildings from the cellars
Stowe on the Wold where the wind blows cold.
Love this, thank you
Love, love, love these videos...so much better than Rick Steves...Thank you again...
Love that fade from the book to the Church tower. Not sure yet if you have visited Chipping Norton, which I consider the gateway to the Cotswold. Lovely series.
We loved Stow on the Wold and travelled the short distance to the Slaughter villages, Upper & Lower. Horrible names but beautiful to walk around.

Love Stow and Hook Norton. It is said that no matter how many times you count the Rollright stones you'll never get the same number twice. Ohn how I agree about the Hook Norton beer, I'm quite partial to a pint of Old Hooky. Apparently the original owner of the brewery decided to expand the brewery and demolished the house, what his wife had to say about that is not recorded.

True about Rollright. Enough to drive you crazy!! Didn't know about the brewer. Thanks for watching. Robin
I am curious, where were you filming Edgehill ? ... I used to work for the Ministry of Defence at the largest ammunition site in Europe, hidden in the deep Warwickshire valley at Kineton. No members of the public can get in there. Within the vast 50 sq mile complex is the actual battleground of Edgehill. There are 2 military bases there, one called Malborough, and the other called Edgehill. The whole area is patrolled and covered by the Warwickshire Police, The Military Police, and armed soldiers with guns. The base is always on 'High Alert' in case of a terrorist attack. There is an RAF base next door, and if anyone tries to fly over the area, 2 jets are scrambled from the base and ordered to shoot them down if necessary. As well as the battleground and Edgehill war graves within the base, there are also more recent war graves in there from Afghanistan and other wars we were involved with. There are more astounding secrets within that base than what you can possibly imagine.... all part of our history.
Old Hookey ......a great beer
De Recife Pernambuco Brasil. Olá
I didn't realise stow was so high. That puts it only 200 foot lower than buxton and alston.
