Female long hairs are the most loving of any variant. Longhairs have an easy going personality, unlike wire hairs, and smooths. The males typically have marking, and stubbornness issues that CANNOT be fixed by neutering.😂

In Germany they are referred to as sausage dogs, also cackles. Dachshunds trained to hunt are called teckels.

Your pronunciation of Dachshund and the way the woman is holding the dog upright on backlegs shows me you do not know much h about them.

I've had dachshunds since I was 6. I'm now in my 70's. They are the dearest dogs! Please continue to be aware of the spinal problems they can develop. They're like "the little engine that could". Until they're not! I've literally come home from work and my Pansy and I got into the hottub so that I could move her legs and sing little "ducky " songs. When I put her up against a jet that massaged her spine she literally relaxed and sighed. We both enjoyed the time in the tub!

You really didn’t touch much on how stubborn these dogs are and how this makes training them more difficult!!! Also they like to bark a lot !!! You need to do more research before you post again!!! As a dachshund owner I didn’t find this video very helpful or informative.

I agree. Their stubborn streak can be quite challenging when training (or even when they've been trained but get that "NO I'm not doing that" tantrum ;) ).

I don’t believe doxies are innately stubborn, instead they are bred to be independent thinkers which erroneously is interpreted as stubbornness. They were bred to burrow underground and hold badgers at bay while the farmer or hunter would locate the badger. The breed is the only hound that does not respond to either sight or sound commands-this was intentionally accomplished by selective breeding. They ended up underground with a vicious badger and could not rely on commands from their owner nor could they see their owner. They had to rely on their own judgement to succeed in their tasks. I have owned 5 doxies throughout my life and found them to be intelligent, independent, loyal and loving. And none of mine were barkers without some stimuli causing them to be on alert-a trait I nurtured in my dogs.
