Maybe in 2,000 years people might be looking at our buildings and say "here was a Morrisons" or "here was a Mcdonalds" 😅.
We always take a Brolly on holiday to places where its hot and sunny like this to use as sun shade when we're walking about sightseeing it makes it more comfortable. Cicadas live after hatching as a nymph in the ground sucking the juice from plants and then when the conditions are right they emerge as adults this can take anything from 2 to 17 years. As adults they just live long enough to mate and the females lay up to 400 eggs for the next generation, You get them in the USA too
Wow those mosaics are pretty incredible when you think how long it must have taken to put all those little pieces down to make up the patterns brilliant.
I visited Paphos dig twice over a couple of summers in the late 70s. The first time I did the normal entrance and tour. The next year I learned to go through the back door. When I was exiting out the entrance the guy asked us to pay. But we were leaving so we didnt. Back then it was much much smaller, and only took less than an hour to see it all. There has been much excavated over the last 46 years. Its a beautiful drive from Paphos to Limassol. Thanks for the memories.
That dress looks amazing and loving the colour looks so nice xx
Thanks for the tour. I couldn't handle that heat and humidity and would go out at night instead. I live in Southwestern Ontario Canada and I heard my first cicada of the summer tonight. They start appearing in the summer when the temps are high and it has been in the 90s lately. They do emerge from the ground and they shed their skins. When we were kids we would look for the empty shells. They are quite loud and they sing to each other looking for a mate and they are quite large for a bug. Nothing like a cockroach as Mazzy was thinking. I love when I see small birds chasing and trying to catch them. Some places in the USA are expecting trillions of cicadas to emerge this year. Have fun!
That was Brilliant thank youse. Yes Dan a was going to say don't go back . Luv the history, brilliant. Excited for next video ❤
What a great day exploring. Thanks for sharing. John is calling you
Hi Mazzy and Dan. Love visiting places of history, the mosaics are wonderful. Mazzy wears your hat!!! Take care x
You mentioned the origin of the name Cyprus, apparently it's derived from the ancient name for copper, Cyprus was a major exporter of copper in ancient times and up until the 1960s with independence. About snakes; there's only one venomous snake, the horned viper, the rest are harmless. And the black snake is not only non venomous but the "farmer's friend" as it kills rodents and venomous snakes. There's a legend about how we ended up with so many cats, connected to Saint Helena. Thanks for a fun video. I'm a local by the way, always like seeing what visitors see, through new eyes.
Dan you’re right about the cicada. They live 10-12 years in ground as grubs then emerge, shed skin and become that ugly big flying bug. The sound is a mating call and that is the only thing they have left to live for. New cicadas eggs are deposited in ground to start cycle again. Great vlog. Hi Mazzy
Wow, loving all the history right there on your doorstep! So cool, thanks for bringing us! :D
So interesting Dan & Mazzy. The mosaics are incredible… love the vlogs… 😊
I think I read that in the US, there are 2 varieties of Cicada, one which appears every 13 years. The other every 17 years. This year I think both strains are due to appear. Thank you for the tour of the ruins. While I would have liked to have seen more, I fully appreciate what you're not going back. Just looking at the heat is enough to drain my energy! Thanks again for all that you have shown 🙂 Stay hydrated and take care!
Guys loving this series so far. Fascinating place, amazing history. A bit behind but catching up! Watching most on tv so can’t comment a lot but great stuff so far!
Love the history
That was fun, thank you 😀
Wow. Amazing mosaic. Thanks for sharing that Dan and Mazzy 😊
Awesome video, love the ruins you have been posting. Mazzy that dress looks awesome on you
Brilliant video. Maz hope you’re feeling ok ? Xx
Don’t miss the tombs of the Kings… fantastic archeological site. Doesn’t look much from above ground. It’s many years since we visited but hopefully still open to public. 👍🏻😊😊
Brilliant video, thank you! ❤
Beautiful mosaics Very lovely❤
Great videos Dan and mazzy
Hi Dan and Mazzy , Hope you are well and cooling down while you can , Great video , All looked very interesting seeing the caves and mosaic floor , The lizards running look funny and dont they go , love um 🦎, That would be a great idea to go on a open top bus , might even have a breeze to cool you down a bit , yes it would be some nice sight seeing and you could relax unless you go under a tree LOL, the chocolate tree sounds interesting , i got a pheasant bush and when the berry is ripe tastes of toffee , well All looking Good , Keep up your Great work , o is there any Pedalo s there i wonder , Take Big care . XX🌳🌅🌞👍👍
Loved this vlog on the archeology site really interesting. Have a great time. ❤️
Hi dan and mazzy love the mosaics etc nice one 😊
You guy's do make me giggle😂. Bless think Mazzy could do with a handheld Parasol for the open top bus ....weather looks lovely ❤
Just wondering if the well like structures could an oubliette?.
Hi Dan and Mazzy, thanks for reading out my comment about Aphrodite. I think the real original statue is now in a museum in Greece but there's a few replicas about and there's the Rock of Aphrodite in Paphos where it's said was her birthplace. If you want somewhere cool to go, it's worth hiring a car and going up to the Trudos mountains where tge air is a lot cooler. You'll find lots of little villages away from the main tourist areas. Looking forward to your next videos and Mazzy, you look stunning! You're looking well too, Mr Dan. Enjoy and take lots of water wherever you go.❤
I have two tops similar to your white one with the pockets love them really nice Dan 👍
Love your videos, maybe an umbrella for the sun ,for shade
You was right Dan they are calling for a bit of hanky panky 😂😂😂
Oh, I sent this message before you went on to say about you not wanting to do it also I was going to mention the hop on hop off bus which Mazzy mentioned. Enjoy xx
That looked painfully HOT!! Thanks for showing all you could. 🎥🥊👍
Good video. Not been Cyprus for a while. Nicosia, the capital is great if you get chance and no man's land. Enjoy x
Another great video. Thanks. Will never hear cicadas again….sickahdahs…without chuckling about the screaming!😱😹😼❤
i was going to say get an umbrella but someone beat me to it lol 😊
Great videos Mazzy and Dan.Im glad Dan your not going back to the mosaic on your own and especially in the morning time when there’s probably no one around too dangerous ❤
2 Corinthians 5:11 Is where pathos is mentioned in the bible
Iam used to the heat now iam now living in Algeria but originally from Scotland and it can get over the 40s here
Beautiful dress mazzy you look beautiful 😍 😊❤❤❤
Well don't you two look dandy in your new outfits😍😍 Loved looking at all the ruins & mosaics, but as much as we all love watching, its not worth making yourselves ill with sunstroke or dehydration. Don't forget its your holiday too, so enjoy yourselves. Sorry Mazzy, but Dan was right, yhe cicadas emerge to have sex😂😂 They feed off the tree roots & then depending on which species of cicadas they are they either come up once a year or every 13 or 17 years. They mate & the female lays around 400 eggs!! Your mate JP could tell you how to pronounce it & probably knows all about them 👍😄 Thanks for the shout out about the cats. I did have a tortoiseshell cat & my vet said they were all female, but Google said otherwise. She was a feisty one though & apparently they can be😬 Good joke that Mazzy about the 1 in 3000 beans weighing more... you were quick there😂😂😂 Remember only mad dogs & English men go out in the midday sun....so take care.
good vid on travels keep up the vlogs you do thank for share the vids thanks lee
Omg listening to Dan go on about the beetle things having s%x, I nearly spat my dinner out, it was so funny xx
Beautiful place we went there and yes it’s a struggle please be careful over doing it for your viewers remember your there to enjoy yourselves
Try the crocodile bar, think it's down that road ur Hotel is on,I know its at the back somewhere ,it's fab ,my daughter n her husband lived in cyress for 3 yes coz he was in raf,try n go to limassol it is beautiful, also coral Bay is nice ,just 1 big street of shops n bars, beach n some amazing hotels x
Thank goodness you didn’t have heavy bags going up those stairs, love the dress and colour. . You hear the cricket type things everywhere don’t you. Maybe a bit warm for them. But it could be to mate. Thanks for today really enjoyed it.
Hi Mazzy and Dan, I was just reading about the Cicadas after watching your vlog, and apparently in New Orleans they coat them in flour and fry them to eat. Yuk. Great vlog again.❤
Dan, a lot of early Christian churches or house shrines were underground. A good example is Eynsford Roman villa in Kent.
Fantastic vlog as usual. You should do the open top bus if you haven't already done so. We did the road train in calpe, and we got around a lot quicker, saw a lot more as we were also in the near 40° heat. All the best, Dave
We usually try to get out and about before it gets too hot. Greek Cypriot food is fantastic and the meze is the best.
Folk dont realise how hot Greece is, also how much history there is everywhere, even beside the road for free & not guarded, i go to crete every year & the history is incredible, from ancient times up too the German invasion of ww2

Cyprus isn't part of Greece! It's an independent republic.
took someone years ta do that mosaic....amazes me!! x
To the two of you 🤗🚐🚐🚗🧳🧳🏴🏴🏴♥️
Great vlog guys and thankyou for withstanding the heat! Oh Mazzy I don’t know how you can manage with your hair down like that lol …it makes me sweat just looking at it. Keep taking plenty of drinks with you. Xx
Tomb of kings is beautiful but again we struggled getting around
We have many of those BeanTrees(Carob) here in Spain where we live, would love to be more adventurous and do something with them, but not brave enough!
It's true about the cicadas. We had them over here about a month ago , when they come out of the ground all you can hear is a kind of buzzing noise for two weeks ..after they go away we have empty shells of them everywhere , that they hatched out of ...I'm still finding the shells in odd places outside .
Do you prefer the self catering or All Inclusive: ?
Your last pronounciation was correct (si-car-da) - we have them here in australia too. Noisy buggers!!!
I believe the ancient ruins are lit up at night and it’s much cooler to visit
Sorry, meant Lullingstone Roman Villa.
Hi dan n mazzy hope you're enjoying your holiday hope don't mind me saying mazzy look lovely in your new dress keep up great videos dan 👍👍
Your dress looks nice Mazzy. You’re doing really well in that heat..
The Greeks call the Goddess of love Aphrodite ,the Romans call her Venus.
💜💜💜
👍
Enjoying the vlogs and a big thanks to you both ❤ Have a fantastic time and you two are great ❤
Weird that you can't take drinks into the site, considering the size and the crazy heat! Anyway it's up to you if you want to go back. I personally love it, could spend all day wandering around there as it's my kind of thing. It's an amazing looking place too. The shrine of Dionysus would have been a centre of the celebration of life - drinking of wine, song and dance etc. All that is now silent, the people long forgotten, scattered to the winds like the dust.... Brilliant vlog. Loving the historical side of this journey.
Thanks for showing us around archaeological site😀wow! It was amazing, well done especially in that roasting heat.xx
First? 🎉
I'm first haha 😂
ancient greeks had everything going off...bath houses..bakeries..takeaways..lodging ect...

Here is an interesting fact.....dan and mazzy are absolute LEGENDS! 🍻🍻
Those dirty things you can get living in your house?.....Girlfriends/wifes? the funniest comment i have heard in a long time 😂
Why are you not wearing your hat out in the sun mazzy
Lovely video 🎉
That archaeological site was fascinating...thankyou for getting as much footage as you could in that heat. I reckon a video from the open topped bus would be really good. And Mazzy you look stunning in that green dress, the colour really suits you ❤
fear of lifts..so id not get init after being out of order lol....loving your history of paphos..very interesting 🏛😁😗
Love your videos, you are doing well all that walking around in that heat. If you go on a bus trip it will give you a break from walking around. Mazzy your new dress looks lovely. and I also love Dan’s shirt. This week has gone by so fast. Enjoy the rest of your holiday 👍😎❤️
Hi Dan or Mazzy, sorry I’m late commenting on your video, you are competing with the Euros and more importantly for me, the World Cup of Darts I have a few suggestions for a holiday for you but would prefer to send it in private, I know you have put your email on a few of your videos but I have a memory like a sieve. Could you post it on here so I can contact you in private Nick

So much history in that place. Awesome footage by the Travel Trolls... Once again like always! And Mazzy shouldn't feel bad at all, she is a sport coming along in that heat. Important to bring water :) Also, bring along your hat Mazzy, that little bit of shade helps alot, you can tidy up your hair when you come back to your room :p Big hugs
we love your videos no matter where you are but dont let the heat make you ill , thank you 4 sharing your holiday

There are 3 types of venomous snakes in Cyprus. The blunt nose viper, cat snake and the Macrovipera lebetina.

Only the viper is dangerous!
Dan mate, after seeing you with these old ruins you visit get in a cab and get yourself over to No man's land, (Ghost town, Famagusta) it's open to the public and getting there is easy.. You'll love it mate..
lovein that dress it looks great on you mazzy, and Dan you look like a professional golfer 🏌️♀️great video guys.
Wow. Thanks Dan and Mazzy. You are working hard. I just couldn’t take that heat sight seeing. Give me the pool or beach. The cicada moths are so noisy aren’t they. I remember thinking early in the morning when they started up the noise someone was running the shower. Apparently they rub their wings together to keep cool I’ve been told. Dan you I’d make me laugh about their last two weeks. 😂😂😂
I love watching all your videos, even the bike reviews! But i'm really enjoying watching your travel vids! Enjoy your holiday and stay hydrated!
