It is somewhat unhinged lol. Mercari is the best place to go in order to see what people are actually getting for their books though, as opposed to what people are trying to get. I’ll say this: timing is everything when shopping for a special edition that has hype. But to your point regarding what even makes a special edition “special”. Totally agree, especially when it comes to Fairyloot and Illumicrate. Which is why OwlCrate has become my new favorite special edition supplier. They used to be so basic but now it’s redesigned covers, case designs,sprayed or stenciled edges (sometimes), a bounding author from the letter, author signature AND most importantly EXCLUSIVE CONTENT! prior to OwlCrate requiring authors to provide bonus content I only saw it being done by Barns and Nobles!

i agree, timing is everything! omg and YES! the definition of "special edition" needs to be addressed lol. but that's a great point, i hardly ever see anyone have negative reviews of owlcrate and that's probably because they actually offer something special for customers!

I'll say, I knew it was this bad, but still! Btw, I also love IWWV and am collecting the different editions and the signed UK hardback I got it for like 50 dollars and I thought it was kinda expensive hahaha I'm such a sweet summer child

i still consider anything over $30 for an individual book expensive but i also will drop money if it's a book i need in my collection lol!
