Join me on a journey through the Park Staromiejski or Park Śledzia, that is located in Łódź City Center near the Manufaktura shopping mall. In may 2024 during my visit the renovation took place in the part of the park🌆.
The park is colloquially called the "herring park" (Park Śledzia) by the inhabitants of Łódź. The name probably comes from the fish market located here before World War II. The market mainly sold salted herrings, most often sold by local Jews. Salted herrings were one of the cheapest food products at that time.
