During the first part of my Santorini trip, my mom and I enjoyed our villa, the pool and the views so much that we actually never left (watch it here: • Santorini Birthday Tri... )!
Of course, you can't leave Santorini without exploring the island. We stayed at the Olia Dome at Olia Villa and Suites for the last leg of our trip and had beautiful unobstructed views of the caldera and Aegean sea. Yes, we spent most of our time in our suite as well however, we did trek around Santorini.
From our hotel in Imerovigli, we walked to Firostefani and Fira, the capital of Santorini. It was a short 15-20 minute walk and there are two possible paths. One provides you with a view of the caldera while the other brings you straight into traffic. The pedestrian walkway is typically congested with cars, ATVs and the like so you're left walking alongside moving cars. Dangerous? Yes. Opt for the caldera view.
We saw so many people walk from Fira to Oia but that didn't sound appealing to us so we requested a private car. It only took 20-30 minutes for us to arrive and it was pretty empty in the morning. As we inched towards the heart of Oia, it became progressively crowded to the point that we were literally rubbing shoulders with people.
I'm glad my mom and I stayed in Imerovigli. It's quite and private as opposed to Fira and Oia. There are so many restaurants within walking distance of the hotels AND you also get a view of the caldera.
As much as I love recording and snapping pictures, I try to be in the moment which is why my content is a bit scattered. I also do my best to avoid capturing others in my videos.
