Exploring My Jackstadt Double Bass: Its History, Characteristics, and Performance

Музыка

In this video, I discuss my Jackstadt double bass, an instrument crafted in 1995 by luthier Albert Jackstadt. I discuss its specifications, characteristics, and its history, including how it came into my possession.
I talk about how it performs and its features such as its weight, size, material, extension, unique tapering, and its sound output. I also address its practicality, maintenance, and durability over the years of its lifespan. Comparison with other basses, costs, and transitioning between basses in different contexts are conversed as well. To conclude, I share my fondness for the instrument and the complexities of searching for the right bass.

    Shouldn’t a 7/8 be between 106 and 108 cm of string length? It’s more a 3/4.
