    It's pretty amazing how every single video you make about modular synths is so musical, you go further than a sonic sketch or a soundscape. Nothing wrong with a sketch or soundscape but it's amazing to see you take it further. Are you thinking of making an album with synth music/songs? I am exploring songwriting with modular synths and vocals. I would LOVE to see your take on this!

    I love how much you can do with a lpg, a maths, a sequencer, and a rings. LPG really does impart the music with a nice warm deep tone. I see your Pams is completely full. Mine always is. I now have two side by side for 400hp and I think that's like a minimum. It handles so much modulation and stuff for me.

    Wonderful as always. So often in modular content, we the listeners (and ourselves creators) are subjected to a lot of squawking and screeching and very unpredictable outcomes. Ok, that's part and parcel of the hobby, nobody escapes those moments. Your videos always seem to find a very pleasant musical outcome with an absolute minimum of those moments though. You really have a hold on your rack. That's the main reason I keep coming back to this channel again and again. As I started this video, I noticed your Drumbrute Impact off to the side, I think you usually use a different drum machine, yeah? Well, I saw a wonderful video from Mylar Melodies and a friend of his where they used the DBI as a polyphonic generative sequencer. Maybe it might interest you, I'm sure that of all the creators on YT, you'd be one of the most likely to wrangle something completely unexpected and beautiful out of it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iI6VuLWRe8ioc9I.html

    This sounds amazing man! 🙌 Siam Modular makes a passive dual lpg (iow, no built in resonance or cutoff) called Takaab in 2hp that sounds incredible. I send it the pulses from the beatstep pro's drum channel and damn it sounds great for such an inexpensive, passive little device lol Edit: I didn't think of it, but I guess the make noise one your using doesn't have control over those things either. @@TheUnperson oh no, you disappoint me LOL! No, he was the frontman\songwriter for Ultravox! back in the 70s then went solo in the (very) early 80s. I'd recommend their 3rd studio album "Systems Of Romance" (well, all of them really) his last with the band. His 1st solo album (Metamatic) is a dystopian tour-de-force. Numan cites him\Ultravox! as a massive influence, and in the years between Foxx leaviny Ultravox! and Midge Ure taking over, Billy Currie (took over writing (music) for the band) played with Numan on his 1st 2 solo albums and live on keyboards and Viola I don't think that there's a particular song your track reminds me of, but the feel of it. Maybe the chord shifts against the bass. He's still going strong, but is a professor of music at (can't remember) University now for his day job. Real name - Dennis Leigh.

    @@TheDavidPoole I agree completely, John Foxx deserves to be an electronic music household name, but somehow time kind of forget how great his music was. I love Metamatic, it's an electronic music classic. Such a mood, and it fits the current technological-dystopian Cold War 2.0 times so well too. Seems it was largely Arp Odyssey, Elka String Machine and CR-78. Which is a great sounding trio. Of all the synths I ever owned, I still think the Arp Odyssey had the nicest overall tone, and well rounded feature set. There's something special about it that places it up there with the Minimoog, and so like Foxx, it's underappreciated these days. The Korg Desktop version is such a nice form factor for a modern desktop studio too; and the white / cream one looks lovely with the candy coloured knobs. My daughter was always drawn to that synth too. (though she also loves the Moog Grandmother).

  • @TheDavidPoole

    @TheDavidPoole

    10 ай бұрын

    @@compucorder64 I feel we have an accord 😀. Yes, the Odyssey is one of my all time favourite synths. I played with all the classics pack in the day at one time or another and ARP resonated with me the most (no pun intended) for their rather stark sound. I went to the dark side recently and bought the Behringer Odyssey and 2600. The 2500 was always viewed jealously from afar as pure unobtainium until the new Behringer modules. If they are as good as the Oddy and 2600, then I may just have to sell some kids and get a set. I love Moog, but my heart is with ARP. In a side note, I was able ro pick up John Foxx's old Yamaha RX drum machine from Robin Simons (Foxx's guitarist from Ultravox! and recently) Brother Paul a few years back. I went to pick it up and he told me that John would never part with his beloved CR78. Can't say as I blame him! I now feel the need to listen to Metamatic 😀 Cheers, my friend!

    Erica Pico LPG is a good small relatively affordable powered LPG, 129 eur. There's also the Doepfer A-101-2 Vactrol Lowpass Gate for just under 100eur.
