Exploring Källskär in the Ålandic Archipelago by Motorboat | Boatlife pt.1

Källskär, maybe one of the most special and singular islands here on Åland, makes for an incredible getaway. An island with rock formations, like “Källskärskannan” (“the jug of Källskär”), massive stone-fields and an amazing granite coastline. It stands out because of the landscape and the rich history. Various famous artists have stayed here, for example author Tove Jansson.
There's also an estate with a Mediterranean flair on the island, created by baron Göran Åkerhielm in the 1960s.
I’m sure I’ll be back some day to discover more of this island.
Thank you so much for watching!

Its wonderful to see how happy your father is to spend time with you. I'm the same way with my daughters. What a lovely life you have!

Thank you for your heartwarming comment!😊 I feel incredibly fortunate that I get to share these moments with my father. He's a man of the sea and loves boating around Åland. I'm glad to hear that you have a similar connection with your daughters. Wishing you and your daughters the best.💫

I've always had special feelings for stones. Perhaps, all that remains of a person after death is a petrified heart. It's a natural monument. Some people leave behind small pebbles, because they have never loved. Others leave stone giants, that can be seen thousands of kilometers away, because everyone could warmly snuggle up to them as to themselves.

Thank you very much!😊 While life here is idyllic in many ways it also comes with the ups and downs of ordinary life. I'm sure you can find the magic in your home as well.💫

@@AuroraOlavsdotter These ups and downs are of course normal. Many people will experience them. Regardless of what beautiful surroundings they live in. But you have a special bonus factor. This nature and tranquillity gives you strength and new energy. What is it like to grow up in the Åland Islands? I'm sure many young people go abroad to study and work, don't they? Do many of them come back at some point? Whenever I talk to friends about how nice life must be in certain places (the Åland Islands, for example), they say that the locals certainly don't notice it any more. Because it's a familiar sight and everyday life. I can never quite imagine that, as you certainly still have an eye for particularly beautiful places and feel connected to them. That's the impression you give me in your videos, for example. You can always take pleasure in the supposedly small things in life. That is something very precious. Even or especially when things aren't going so well. When you're sometimes melancholy or sad. What about the people around you? Do most Ålanders have a sense of how lucky they are to live in beautiful and special surroundings? There you go again with some of the questions I announced 😁 Have a good time and please say hello to the wind, the waves and the rocks from me 🙂

Just as Tove Jansson created an alternative way of living in the imaginary Moominvalley, Göran Åkerhielm crafted his own universe on Källskär island. I admire your ability to appreciate the slow and simple pleasures in life, which I also find reflected in your vlogs. Thank you for sharing the breathtaking natural wonders of your world.

@@AuroraOlavsdotter There's magic in everything Tove Jansson created - both in the stories and the illustrations. I am delighted to watch your vlogs, Aurora. They inspire me to visit your beautiful archipelago, where its pine trees and seawater create the most beautiful haven for wildlife, eagles, and seabirds. Thanks for sharing its beauty. ❤

Hej Aurora, I wanted to tell you how I first became aware of the Åland Islands. I watched these two documentaries. Unfortunately they are only in German but I'm sure you'll recognise almost all the places and maybe even some of the people 🙂 Have fun watching them.
