Exploring Inchcolm Island: Wildlife Wonders and Historic Inchcolm Abbey, Scotland
Inchcolm Island, located in the Firth of Forth in Scotland.
The main historic attraction of the island is the Inchcolm Abbey. Inchcolm Abbey, founded in the early 12th century by King David I. Visitors can explore the ruins and enjoy panoramic views from the bell tower.
The island played a significant role in both World Wars, as it was fortified to defend the Firth of Forth, and to this date the remnants of gun emplacements and military buildings are still visible.
Inchcolm Island is a haven for wildlife, particularly seabirds. You can often see puffins, seals, and a variety of other marine, bird life and their offsprings.
The island is also reputed to be haunted, with tales of ghostly monks, I couldn't film any of them though :)
The island is accessible by ferry from South Queensferry, with several companies offering regular trips, particularly during the tourist season from April to October. Other than a small cafe and souvenir shop/visitor centre there are not many other amenities.
