This hotel is among many IHG hotels and upholds the standard very well! Having lived in SoCal my entire life, I'd like to think I am pretty familiar with downtown and the various places to stay in San Diego. However, I had never heard of Kimpton Alma. But after just one night stay, I am hooked. This hotel deserves so much recognition for their quality hotel, amenities, friendly staff, and delicious food.

The most shocking thing about the room is that the room rate is not as expensive as I thought it would. A room like that should be an easy $750 a night in my opinion. Not only for the fact that the room itself is stunning, huge, and offers amazing views, but the hotel itself is central to so much in downtown San Diego. Which makes walking and exploring so easy to do instead of having to pay for parking everywhere.
We had breakfast and dinner at their lobby restaurant, The Café, and lunch at their poolside restaurant, Leave of Absence. Our favorite dishes from each meal were the Breakfast Sandwich for breakfast at The Café, the Hanger Steak sandwich for lunch at Leave of Absence, and the Birria Empanadas for dinner at The Café.
