17:09 I've heard from other youtubers that its better for the stone crab to take both claws, because they will avoid fights and take less risks than if they still had 1 claw. Have you heard this, and do you know how true or not this is?
@KeyWestWaterman
3 ай бұрын
I hear this a lot and I'm not sure where it started. There are very few studies on declawing stone crab, the few published studies that I have read all say that same thing. The mortality rate is much higher, (almost double) when both claws are removed versus one. The mortality rate is fairly high after removing one claw. The most important part is removing the claw correctly without breaking the joint or socket so to speak. After 15 years of diving stone crabs by hand. Seeing the amount of crab I have, the amount with one claw left and no claws left (alive) I would have to agree. But I could be wrong, just my opinion. I would love to know who is out there watching stone crab "fights" in a natural environment, 15 years diving for them and I have yet to see one lol

@@KeyWestWaterman Arron, one of your Stone Crab catch videos was used and credited on the "Best Ever Food Review Show" YT channel ! It's a MEGA YT player. Millions of subscribers and views. Hoping you get a nice Bump up !! He also shows the Florida study to not take both claws as it has twice the mortality rate, as you mentioned.
This man appreciates Florida the way we all should. It’s paradise that will provide for and nourish us
The snapper and grouper hunting never gets old for me. Thanks for taking us along.

I like the overhead drone shot cut to the edge of the weeds, it orients things. The camera on the bottom shooting up at you in sillouette taking a claw was nice. We do notice.

The drone perspective at 16:45 is so cool boss! Thanks for taking us along for your backyard adventures!
Camera angles on the stone crab hunt was the best
Nice filming and edit! The overhead drone shot with the audio from your body camera. Then the scene change to match the audio. Nicely done Aaron.
The bugs did show up a little. Wow. Way to tolerate. Nice snapper hunt. Never seen anyone spear in the mangroves! Wowsa! Stone crab. Wow! Wish I had that food pantry out my back door. Thanks for the video!
Love when you do these kind of videos man. Your videos gave me the courage to trap them stone crab and I can’t get enough of it now. Thanks for all the awesome content 🤙

That drone footage with sound to the under water crab catch and back was really cool. Loved the close quarters spear fishing.
Excellent camera angles on the stone crabs! Silhouetting yourself above while working on the crabs looks very nice! Great job!
I get termite swarms down here in the Southern Caribbean, usually they come after the first big rainfall of rainy season and it stresses me out as welll...I understand how you feel.

Excellent video, always love the Mangrove dives. Thanks, buddy.
When I spear fish, and do not plan on going back to the boat, I always take a bag (lobster bag), and put the fish in there. Hanging them off the spear gun is to much of a cluster (for me). But awesome video !!! Love all the water video you do. Mangroves, reef, deep drop, all of them !!!

Aaron, I love your Gheenoe. My 13 footer has been my solo boat but health issues require the wife to come along. Gittin old aint for wusses, even a retired Army Ranger like me is humbled by health issues. Be happy, be safe keep filming.
Killer drone shots!!
This is my favorite vid yet! I dive the mangroves around the Sarasota area nice to see someone else doing it.
I like your short “eco” education comments. I did not realize the fragility of the under water grass, and how pervasive the termites will swarm at your location so far south. Thanks for always sharing your sensitive and very sportsman-like attitudes about the environment and its wildlife.
Incredible drone shots at 16:30, Aaron!
Great photography underwater and great content
I didn't know no-see ums could fly, my only experience with them has been at the water's edge around the ankles, that was enough for me.

It’s always amazing to me that you can stone shot mangrove snapper like you do. There’s no way that people who don’t spearfish know how hard that is. Heading down there Thursday to try to be like KWWM.
Nice shot set up when you're fishing those crabs out of the holes; find the hole, set up the camera, grab the crab...watch out OUCHIE!
Great video brother! I cant wait to get out to FL and go on a hunt! Sending you good vibes from Okinawa.
I’ve lived my entire life in Southern Louisiana. (New Orleans area). We too have massive problems with termites. All we can do is turn every single light off and treat. Aaron- even though there is no wood right there, they reside in colonies underground, at least in LA. Good luck- they terrify me as well.
