⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Exploring Barcelona Metro Line L4

Ғылым және технология

Line 4 is a line in the Barcelona Metro network operated by TMB, and part of the ATM fare-integrated transport network. Opened to the public in 1973, it serves the northern half of Barcelona using part of the infrastructure of Barcelona's first metro line the Gran Metro de Barcelona, covering a wide C-shaped area stretching from La Pau (in la Verneda) to Trinitat Nova, where it is linked with the recent L11. The 16.7 kilometers that make up the whole line are underground.
Line 4 uses 2100 series cars as well as 9000 series cars. A majority of the 2100 series cars are the only remaining cars on the Barcelona Metro that have not been rebuilt and retain their original transverse seating. A few even retain their original white paint scheme! The 2100 series cars are currently being rebuilt, with a few freshly overhauled trains being seen in this video. Enjoy!

I dunno but the 2100s are very fascinating. While technically they are almost the same with the 9000 series from Alstom (though not a surprise since the 2100s are also built by Alstom along with CAF), they look like they're from the 70s, not from 1997-2002 when they were built.

Open gangway cars, plug type doors (along with big picture windows), and 3 minute headways. These are standard subway technologies in other countries, but which are completely foreign for NYCT.

Thanx for the video. A couple of things . They use overhead wire rather than DC 3rd rail. The door opening handles seem to operate the opposite to the logical way of opening.
