I love this Ames, I pass by it everyday

I live and always from Seabrook same as my parents my grandfather said that was built around when he was a little boy early mid 60s

Everytime I go to Hampton Beach, I pass by this and I'm amazed it's still there! I'm from Brockton, MA and usually go to Hampton Beach once or twice in the Summah (Summer). I was kind of hoping you would go inside and take one for the team lol. Could be a squatter(s) in there, maybe some N64 or Super Nintendo games too! I was born in 1978 and miss the old department stores such as Ames, Caldor, Woolworth, Zayres, Service Merchandise etc etc 😒

Thanks for watching and sharing. So i walked around a few times to see if i could peak in a bit, but its locked pretty good. From what I saw through the window, didn't looks like there is much there, I am also surprise this place hasn't been knocked down. The market basket there is busy, but there is legit another one a mile down the road so idk lol

From what I know, it's owned by the other business nextdoor and there deciding if they want to expand the current store or give I to someone else due to the damage. That's why it's locked, you could go in about 7 years ago.

I Wish they'd open Ames again! I HATE Walmart!!!!!

Ames was great!

There is another Ames store over in Dover New Hampshire next to Hannaford. The sign is no longer on the building but it has been vacant since Ames closed. The Seabrook plaza is slated for a redevelopment. The information online has a New Market Basket being built as well as new shops and restaurants.

I'm fine with the redevelopment If Ames & the classic sign doesn't get demolished like they said that just the Market Basket & the empty smaller shops and maybe the gas station would be. The concept looks like about the size of Market Basket & The smaller shops combined rather than the whole Plaza.

Not a CVS. Liquor store.

Not quite 70 years old, the plaza was built sometime in the mid to late 60s. The Ames was built as a King's Dept Store which was bought by Ames in 1984.

Before it was a King's Dept Store. It was once called Foresthills.
