EXPLORING AN ABANDONED WATERPARK in Illinois! (I swam here as a kid!)

Ойын-сауық

In today’s adventure, we explore an abandoned Waterpark that I used to come to when I was a kid. It was the best local spot to come hang out at back in 2010-2016. It ended up closing in 2019 due to Covid restrictions but they planned to open again in upcoming years. Unfortunately with the loss they took from abruptly closing from the pandemic, they were unable to open again in 2021 and announced they would be permanently closing for good. Now the Waterpark sits abandoned tucked away out of the public’s eye and there is no plans to tear it down or ever reopen it. A local trucking company ended up buying the Waterparks parking lot to use to store their extra semi trucks which leaves me with the question; Do they own the Waterpark now as well? Either way, I enjoyed coming here when it was open and I also really enjoyed exploring it as an abandoned place, as I hope you did as well! `The buildings there look pretty good yet but everything else like all theme and water parks starting to look rugged. It always seems these kinds of places go to hell ans fall apart so fast when they close for a little while. Nice job on the video!

Esme, I know how you feel. I am not sure if you have heard of it but here in Northeast Ohio there was an amusement park called Geauga Lake. It was closed by the owner in 207 without giving us a farewell season or no prior notice. We do have Cedar Point to the northwest in Sandusky, Ohio and Kings Island to the southwest in Mason, Ohio. I am mostly a big fan of Cedar Point. My late aunt used to take us to both Cedar Point and Geauga Lake as kids and to see what has become of Geauga Lake now where we had so many special memories and good times is simply heartbreaking. The amusement side is all flattened and covered with waist high vegetation and rubble and the water park side parking lot is being developed into condos.
