Exploring an Abandoned Neighborhood nicknamed "Buddyville"

Ойын-сауық

From what I understand, this abandoned neighborhood in South Beloit, Illinois was prone to flooding. So, it was condemned and eventually demolished. The houses are completely gone now. The locals called it "Buddyville" and one of the houses appeared to go abandoned in 2015 because a calendar from 2015 was still on the wall.

I grew up down this road. This place became abandoned due the owners inheriting the property from passed away family members and couldn't afford the property taxes.

That calendar was put in there by a homeless squatter. Anything they've brought in may be newer. The rest of the stuff is definitely 20+ years old.

I've lived about a half hour-20 minutes away since 2008 and never known about this. Feels weird knowing that it was likely abandoned at the same time as me living here.

I have to imagine they left from flooding and stuff but I don’t get why they just left all this stuff behind. It kinda feels like they just took the essentials and left never coming back
